I could not look back,
You'd gone away from me
I felt my heart ache
I was afraid of following you

When I had looked at
The shadows on the wall
I started running into the night
To find the truth in me

Arashi fuku kono machi ga omae wo daku
Fukinukeru kaze ni sae me wo tojiru

Omae wa hashiridasu nanika ni owareru you
Ore ga mienai no ka sugu soba ni iru no ni

Hitonami ni kiete yuku kioku no toiki
Ai no nai hitori butai mou taekirenai
All of you in my memory is
Still shining in my heart
Sure chigau kokoro wa afureru namida nure

Kurenai ni somatta kono ore wo
Nagusameru yatsu wa mou inai

Mou nido to todokanai kono omoi
Tozasareta ai ni mukai
Sakebi tsuzukeru

Omae wa hashiridasu nanika ni owareru you
Ore ga mienai no ka sugu soba ni iru no ni

Kurenai ni somatta kono ore wo
Nagusameru yatsu wa mou inai

Mou nido to todokanai kono omoi
Tozasareta ai ni mukai
Sakebi tsuzukeru

Kurenai ni somatta kono ore wo
Nagusameru yatsu wa mou inai

Crying in deep red

General Comment:Music mime - you're right about the chills. I read the english translation, and it was soooo.... beautiful. But then I remembered the melody. And so the song took on a different meaning of beautiful. The kind of beautiful only the dead can take on, so i dunno if that's reminiscent of hide, even though he wasn't dead then yet, or if it's the song's own flavour... whatever, it's hard to describe. AHH I should have never even tried to describe it. It's beyond words.

General Comment:The ex-Prime Minister of Japan, Junichiro Koizumi, is a fan of X-Japan...He has been found humming Kurenai occasionally on TV. Not kidding. This song is like one of his favourite songs.

I will try to do an English translation of this song when I have the time.

General Comment:I agree with all of you, this song is amazing. It was the second X song I heard (Orgasm being the first), and I was hooked from that time on.

I also managed to go to the Hide Museum two times before it closed last year. I don't know if any of you are guitar players/know about X's equipment, but I saw the guitar that he used when recording this song...It was the Mockingbird that he had handpainted. THAT was amazing. Evertime I hear that chord ring before Yoshiki rattles the cymbols after Toshi's vocal opening I think of that guitar. Sucks the Museum couldn't afford to stay open.

General Comment:This is the first X JAPAN song I ever heard, and it's the song that made me a loyal fan. Yoshiki is brilliant, and the bandmembers all exceptional talents who work his raging composition into musical existence with aggressive skill and beauty. How can any fan of metal or even just rock in general not love this song? I made my brother an X JAPAN fan when I made him listen to "Kurenai"--and my friend--and my other friend--and my other friend, as well. This song is the unparalleled essence of what makes X JAPAN's music so awesome and encompassing. A total classic.

General Comment:Love it... the beats, the solos, the meaning. All X songs are specially written for Toshi. His high tone drives me to the highest peak of the Everest.
