ANYWAY... I also heard that this was based on the book "The Hanging Garden", which I haven't read. But I guess all music is open to interpretation, so regardless of what it's based on, make it your own... and give it meaning.
Well anyways...The AFI cover is great, but the original one is better of course. I believe you, who said this wast about animals fucking. I really don't think this has anything to do with animal abuse. I mean I love bands, who stand up for animals, but I really don't think Cure is one of them.

"Hanging Garden" seems to me to be about animal abuse and experimentation. For instance, the line "wearing furs and masks" might refer, not only to animals themselves, but to people wearing fur coats and make-up.
