You say it's your birthday
It's my birthday too--yeah
They say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.

Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party.

I would like you to dance--Birthday
Take a cha-cha-cha-chance-Birthday
I would like you to dance--Birthday
Dance

You say it's your birthday
Well it's my birthday too--yeah
You say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.

General Comment:I hope the song isn't about cocaine, I like the song and even the lyrics, but if the reference is indeed coke (which does fit quite well) then I am disapointed. The song deserves more than that

General Comment:Just to echo handsdown4dbhahaeatles: I'm fairly certain that "He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles" line was a joke. Paul has referred to Ringo as "the best drummer ever."

While not all of Paul's solo work has been amazing, some of it has been quite good and it does seem a bit out of line to say he wasn't a good song writer. "Maybe I'm Amazed" is a great song! tres_oiseau might be the most polite person on the internet.

I play this song on any birthday occasion. It's obnoxious, really, but it's just such a joyous song...I don't see how you can get sick of it.

General Comment:Paul played drums on this song and John played bass. That's what I've heard anyway.

General Comment:My friends played this to me when I turned 18 a couple of months ago. I will never forget it.
I'm having trouble discribing how much I like this song. I've sitten here at the keyboard for about ten minutes and the song is on it's fourth repeat. But I can't put my affection in words. It's a strange song, I mean. It's something about it that just makes me smile. I always get very happy when I listen to it.

General Comment:I apologize for my extremely rude post. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I should not be insulting those who share their thoughts, no matter how much i disagree. Please forgive my incompetance.

General Comment:This song is one of the ones where the bealtes just sat down with their instruments and experimented. Basically they played with some chords and rythms and then John began signing "You say it's your birthday" (because suposedly there was a newspaper on the ground in the studio talking about someone's birthday) and then the rest of the beatles and anyone in the room just shouted out a line and they went with it. This song was written in a very short amount of time

and to prove some of you idiots wrong-
    1. Ringo did play on this and even though Paul, George, and John can play drums pretty well, Ringo is better because he has a lot of styles so that he can play with to make the drums match the song's mood better. That is why I think Ringo is the best drummer, he doesn't have much technical talent but when he plays, he plays with soul and that makes the drums match the song and the rest of the instruments so that the song just "clicks". there aren't many drummers that can do that.
    2. Paul is a good writer and is much better than u, asshole. Plus, he didn't even write this song himself... so go read up on some beatles facts before you start spouting your ignorant thoughts to the world.
