Lyrics for Birthday as interpreted by Ice

Birthday Lyrics
You say it's your birthday
It's my birthday too, yeah
They say it's your birthday
We're going to have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you
Yes we're going to party, party
Yes we're going to party, party
Yes we're going to party, party
I would like you to dance
Birthday
Take a cha-cha-cha-chance
Birthday
I would like you to dance
Birthday dance
You say it's your birthday
It's my birthday too, yeah
You say it's your birthday
We're going to have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you

This is how good the Beatles were: They took the words "You say it's your birthday. It's my birthday, too." and turned it into one of the most famous classic rock songs in history!! If any other band ever tried that, they'd be looking for a new record company...

beautifully written, mostly by Paul (brains of beatles) and then torched by John who made fun of all of Pauls work simply inspite of jealousy. John was great too, I am just more of a paul fan,. BUt Pauls main inspiriation for writing songs as was johns was practically competing against the other!@

the song was written to be a simple, catchy hit played at birthdays and such. however, it was never released as a single (no songs on the white album were) so it never really reached the potential intended. i heard that on the weekly radio show "beatle brunch" on sunday mornings

Actually Paul might've played on this song since Ringo left for a part of the White Album's recording. Paul's name is given credit as playing drums on some of the tracks on the album. Still a great song. Ringo did have a solo, though, on "The End" from Abbey Road.

If you go to www.beatlessongs.com and click on "albums" and look at The White Album, you will see that RINGO...NOT PAUL is credited and listed as the drummer on this..just wanted to clarify, feel free to check the link as proof if need be! Rock on Beatles..the greatest rock n roll band in history!!!!!

This song is another bit of proof that Paul is not a talented song writer at all! He can play a guitar, play drums, and even play my male organ(very well) but he can not write music and is definatley not the"brains of the beatles"

By the way, if your planing on flaming me or proving me wrong.
Let me just say listen to the lame crap that Paul put out after the break up compared to Johns, Georges, and even some of Ringos work that was so much more deep and just plan better.

I've read that they just sat down and wrote this song in one day, didn't involve any planning in it whatsoever. It's a pretty good song for making it up kind of on the spot like that. John said it was a piece of crap, basically.

But chocolate hearts! That's what I don't agree with John at all. Anything about The Beatles' music is not crap. Or maybe, another man's trash is another man's treasure.

If John says that this is a piece of crap, I disagree. I can't write music. I don't have what it takes to be even half a Beatle. That's why I love The Beatles so much. They are geniuses. What I'm trying to say is, no matter what, I think their music rocks!!

And for the one who said that 'it was a known fact that Ringo was not the best drummer in The Beatles', I disagree. Ringo is The Drummer in The Beatles, and that's that. I think you said that because an interviewer asked Paul or John if they think that Ringo is the best drummer in The Beatles. And they replied with, "He's not even the best drummer in The Beatles." I don't think so. John, Paul and George was sad when Ringo left while they are recording for the 'White" album. They made him come back. Ringo's drumset (well, the whole room) was full of flowers to welcome him back. RINGO IS THE BEST DRUMMER IN THE BEATLES. I THINK HE'S THE BEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD.

If you still don't think that Ringo is a good drummer, you just have to listen to Tomorrow Never Knows. You'd be really amazed.

Oh yeah, I don't think this song is crap. Because Paul McCartney played this song on his concert in Russia. (I forgot if it was Red Square of St. Petersburg).

Btw, I feel bittersweet whenever I hear The End. It was Ringo's first and last drum solo throughout the years of the Beatles.

This song is one of the ones where the bealtes just sat down with their instruments and experimented. Basically they played with some chords and rythms and then John began signing "You say it's your birthday" (because suposedly there was a newspaper on the ground in the studio talking about someone's birthday) and then the rest of the beatles and anyone in the room just shouted out a line and they went with it. This song was written in a very short amount of time

and to prove some of you idiots wrong-
1. Ringo did play on this and even though Paul, George, and John can play drums pretty well, Ringo is better because he has a lot of styles so that he can play with to make the drums match the song's mood better. That is why I think Ringo is the best drummer, he doesn't have much technical talent but when he plays, he plays with soul and that makes the drums match the song and the rest of the instruments so that the song just "clicks". there aren't many drummers that can do that.
2. Paul is a good writer and is much better than u, asshole. Plus, he didn't even write this song himself... so go read up on some beatles facts before you start spouting your ignorant thoughts to the world.

My friends played this to me when I turned 18 a couple of months ago. I will never forget it.
I'm having trouble discribing how much I like this song. I've sitten here at the keyboard for about ten minutes and the song is on it's fourth repeat. But I can't put my affection in words. It's a strange song, I mean. It's something about it that just makes me smile. I always get very happy when I listen to it.

Paul played drums on this song and John played bass. That's what I've heard anyway.
