(Ooh) What you want
(Ooh) Baby, I got
(Ooh) What you need
(Ooh) Do you know I've got it
(Ooh) All I'm askin'
(Ooh) Is for a little respect when you come home (just a little bit)
Hey baby (just a little bit) when you get home
(Just a little bit) mister (just a little bit)

I ain't gonna do you wrong, while you're gone
Ain't gonna do you wrong (ooh) 'cause I don't want to (ooh)
All I'm askin' (ooh)
Is for a little respect when you come home (just a little bit)
Baby (just a little bit), when you get home (just a little bit)
Yeah (just a little bit)

I'm about to give you all of my money
And all I'm askin' in return, honey
Is to give me my profits
When you get home (just a, just a, just a, just a)
Yeah baby (just a, just a, just a, just a)
When you get home (just a little bit)
Yeah (just a little bit)

Ooh, your kisses (ooh)
Sweeter than honey (ooh)
And guess what (ooh)
So is my money (ooh)
All I want you to do (ooh) for me
Is give it to me when you get home (re, re, re ,re)
Yeah baby (re, re, re ,re)
Whip it to me (respect, just a little bit)
When you get home, now (just a little bit)

R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Find out what it means to me
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Take care, TCB

Oh (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
A little respect (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
Whoa, babe (just a little bit)
A little respect (just a little bit)
I get tired (just a little bit)
Keep on tryin' (just a little bit)
You're runnin' out of fools (just a little bit)
And I ain't lyin' (just a little bit)
(Re, re, re, re) 'spect
When you come home (re, re, re ,re)
Or you might walk in (respect, just a little bit)
And find out I'm gone (just a little bit)
I got to have (just a little bit)
A little respect (just a little bit)

General Comment:These lyrics need to be written on the front door of every married couples home! This song should also be in high school literature books under the section, "Prepare yo self sucka....life ain't all bout your bank roll and tappin' dat ass!" Decline in future divorce rates.....SOLVED!

General Comment:Correction: The accurate line is "Take care of TCP"

TCP was an abbreiviation common in the 60s and 70s among african-american culture which meant "The Colored People" The line is saying "Take care of The Colored People." TCP became became less widely used over the years and few outside the culture knew of it to begin with.

General Comment:this song really help the feminist movement and it brought to light feel think crave and need respect just as much as men do. this song alone makes her a legend very much before its time and very daring to speak that point of view.

General Comment:Ah, TCB, taking care of business. I thought it was TCP, and I was wondering what this could possibly have to do with transmission protocols....

General Comment:Actually it was a song about civil right originally when Otis Reddng sag it. Obviously the meaning is mewhat different with Aretha Singing it. Anyway, who cares what was attempted to be puerveyed by the song it means different things to different people, that is what art it, art is subjective. Moral; be tolerant - let people think what they want about the song.

General Comment:The TCB part really doesnt make sense, but TCB does mean taking care of buisness and she says Take Care of TCB. Tina Turner did a cover of this song in the early 70's and she used "Take care of TT". I think that sounds a lot better than TCB. Aretha could have said Ree Ree. That isnt that important though. its still a great song, one of my faves.
