what exactly is this song about? i can kinda think of something but not sure. like the jimmy eat world song "hear you me", i dont get how the title is. like it doesnt make sense to me.....

That is making reference to the Christian belief that Christ will one day return and claim his followers in what is known as "The Rapture." Whether or not that's what the subject is believing in isn't exactly clear. The song has religious overtones, but of course Vedder is not a religious man, and to our knowledge, never has been.

The first time I heard the song, I thought about what stephiphany wrote about. Ed isn't religious, but he has used other religious imagery in songs.

This is one of the better songs he did with Bad Radio, though. (I'm surprised this is even on the Pearl Jam page, frankly! Since it's really not Pearl Jam.) He's definitely evolved as a songwriter since this song, though!

wow im curious about this one. Its funny: Believe you me, is like a direct translation of how you would say "Do you believe me?" in my language, Dutch. I guess "Believe you me" means the same but in old fashioned English or something. It proves once again to me that English and Dutch are much more alike than everyone thinks. Anyways, I will search for this song when I get a chance.

This song is from Eddie's first band, Bad Radio, from years before Pearl Jam. They were mostly a local live band, never got around to releasing a true album though they did record a few demos. Which, I might add, are better than most music today.
