Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up
And has left you with no warning
But it's not always going
To be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this my love is up
And must be leaving
It has not always
Been this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So I must be on my way
And face another day

Now the darkness only stays at nighttime
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good
At arriving at the right time
It's not always
Going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away

General Comment:This song means to me that no matter how good or bad things are, they will pass. It tells me to not take things too seriously. Don't wrap myself up and identify with anything to the point that I lose myself in them. Nothing is solid and nothing remains for too long and if I identify with things, I may lose myself.

General Comment:it's a fact that the first attempts of George to get a final version of these songs were being a Beatle and during Beatles' recording sessions. Besides this circumstances, it is seems clear to me the different mood of George as composer in relation to his buddies in the Beatles. He lived different hard trouble periods in his life (including his final fight against cancer) but he never seemed to be externally affected, probably because through music he found the key to get calmed even in the worst moments. At the end of each of these periods he came with a reflective song. If you listen "Blow away" (1979) it is in a very similar mood than "All things must pass" but it is in response to a different situation.

General Comment:This song is definitely about the duality of life, the first verse establishes that all good must come to an end (and therefore have a genesis to begin with) and the last verse establishes that all bad must come to an end (and of course, also have a genesis.) Greatly symbolic song.

General Comment:I also really love the demo George recorded on february 25th, 1969 that appears on the Anthology. He also laid down eloquent versions of something and old brown shoe.

General Comment:While the Anthology version is certainly an inspired recording by George, the official release was sooo good to be bypassed. One of George's best ever!

General Comment:I actually prefer the Beatles Anthology version to George's solo version, just seems much more poignant, and seems to carry more emotion
