Lyrics for All Dead, All Dead as interpreted by Noble Surfer

All Dead, All Dead Lyrics
She came without a farthing
A babe without a name
"So much ado about nothing"
Is what she'd try to say

So much ado my lover
So many games we played
Through ever fleeted summer
And every precious day

(all dead, all dead)
All the dreams we had
And I wonder why I still live on
(all dead, all dead)
And alone I'm spared
My sweeter half instead
All dead and gone
All dead...

(all dead, all dead)
At the rainbow's end
And still I hear her own sweet song
(all dead, all dead)
Take me back again
You know my little friend's all dead and gone

Her ways are always with me
I wander all the while
But please you must forgive me
I am old, but still a child

All dead, all dead
But I should not grieve
In time in comes to everyone
(all dead, all dead, all dead, all dead)
But in hope I breathe
Of course, I don't believe you're dead and gone

All dead and gone

Brian May wrote it and sang it. How about using GOOGLE? or buying the frigging ORIGINAL ALBUM from a recordstore? Instead of jus wondering who wrote it...

This is one of they're most craziest songs that they ever wrote and played and is totally "Un-Queen"!

I think it's about a serial killer's mind!

It's about Brian May's cat who died at the time...

Yup, Simmer is almost right-- it's actually about a cat he had as a kid (named Squeaky) who died.

This song is really beautiful and deserves to be played more. It is easily my favorite Queen song and, I think, it stands out above just about everything else they ever did. It is on NEWS OF THE WORLD and I can remember borrowing it from my middle school library when I was a kid and being stunned by the sad beauty of this track. Whoever the song is actually about, I think it can be personalized by just about anyone who ever loved a girl or a woman who has since died. I am not a terribly sentimental person but this song really tugs at my soul.

Okay, I heard this song and I definatly loved it from the first time I heard it on my 'News of the Word' Album. This is one of my favorite Queen songs, Ive been a bit late to jump of the Queen bandwagon (born in the 90's okay? ^-^). I thought this had deeper meaning...when I read it was about a cat...well it wasn't what I expected.

Brian May wrote it. It upsets me that noone appreciates him he is such an amazing songwriter. And one of the first lines is "much ado about nothing" that is a play written by Shakespeare, genius the way he worked that in,

Genius the way you figured that out. Yes, yes, it's completely genius that he could actually know the name of a play by the most famous playwright of all time, and then ACTUALLY PUT IT INTO A SONG!

Glacion I don't understand why you have to be so hostile. If you read the play and really thought about it and the song, you would be able to see how May put that title in their for a better reason than just throwing it in a song.

I have heard on several occasions that this song was written about Brian May's pet cat dying. In the usual Queen fashion it can mean many different things if you use your imagination. One reviewer said this song is UnQueen like. Queen were genius beyond most people's comprehension. They explored and excelled at all forms and styles of music and this is one more example of their endless talent.

how does "and still i hear own sweet song" fit in with the cat theory? maybe it was a bird? well, it's a brilliant song.

"Of course, I don't believe you're dead and gone"

Doesn't that just reflect future feelings for Freddie himself?

The "my lover" reference combined with the theory that the song is to Brian May's dead cat has got me slightly worried !

In my opinion, Brain May was a better song writer than Freddie Mercury (though I'll always be in love with both of them).

My nerdy friends and I always get into this argument.
