This town was built on miles of hope
And I dare you to give me one reason to stay
And I won't go away.
So far you've only dared me once
And I think we know that's not even close enough.
Not enough for me to stay.
It costs so much I know,
But I guess I need to know
What it would have felt like to be right.
But I'm getting tired all over again
So hurry up and get here
Because I'm still waiting,
Just like I've always been.
I'm getting tired of standing around,
Just sitting here and waiting to be found.
Same old shit just different day.
I'll wait around for one more day
But I know that's what I will always say
Will this ever be OK?
It costs so much I know
But I guess I need to know
What it would have felt like to be right
Well I'm getting tired all over again
So hurry up and get here
Because I'm still waiting
Just like I've always been
It costs so much I know
But I guess I need to know
What it would have felt like to be right
Well I'm getting tired all over again
So hurry up and get here
Because I'm still waiting
Just like I've always been
Hey now, we'll be around for one more day
Hey now, we'll be around for one more day
I will always worry about you
I will always stick up for you
I will always worry about you
I will always stick up for you
And I dare you to give me one reason to stay
And I won't go away.
So far you've only dared me once
And I think we know that's not even close enough.
Not enough for me to stay.
It costs so much I know,
But I guess I need to know
What it would have felt like to be right.

I will always worry about you
I will always stick up for you

The most obvious meaning would be that it's about a relationship. This guy loves his girl but their relationship has always been kinda... "frozen". There is little or no passion to it.
Anyway, the guy thinks about leaving her but he feels that he must protect her since she is a person with a weak character, or maybe not, but he still thinks that she needs his protection. So he sticks around.
But for me the song is about life in general. How it sometimes feels like you're stuck in the same, grey spot and nothing interesting ever happens. So you start thinking about suicide and shit like that. And a conflict erupts between the part of you that celebrates joy and life and the part that is afflicted with depression and makes you feel anxious and inferior.
"Well I'm getting tired all over again
So hurry up and get here
Because I'm still waiting
Just like I've always been"
"I will always worry about you
I will always stick up for you"
Personally, my favorite song by Texas Is The Reason
It's really a sad song if you ask me. But, still, that final riff sounds so upbeat. The Kennedy references baffle me. I love how they incorporate conspiracy theory into their act, as confusing as it is. "Back and to the Left" could refer to the subject feeling betrayed (as Kennedy was supposedly "betrayed" by Texas dems), but I feel like I'm reaching with that. It's a shame these guys didn't put out more stuff.
it's just immesne
texas is the reason are a great band
it's a shame not many people have heard about them...
"i will always worry about you" - possible that he is referring to himself during this song?
