    General Comment:the song is about his former best friend who slept with his ex girlfriend amanda, which is the reason he was admitted to the psych ward/mental institution which lead to the song hate me which was meant toward her, and later wrote the song colorado 5591 because his patient number was 5591 in the mental institution.

    Song Meaning:*DISCLAIMER* I have just obtained a copy of Justin Furstenfeld's book Crazy Making. It's not very detailed, but it contains all the lyrics to all current (The Answers - Approaching Normal) Blue October songs, and his inspiration behind them. As I said, it's not very detailed, but it's his words on every Blue October song that is in the book. I know everyone interprets a song differently from everyone else, but having the original intent behind the song will be helpful to people who don't fully understand a song. Also, any grammatical errors are not made by me, I'm putting down Justin's words exactly how he writes them. So yea... enjoy :)

    General Comment:This song is great, because I think just about anyone knows a James.

    I even just know someone whom I have a on-again off-again love/hate relationship with. His name isn't James, but he like myself is unhappy with his given name, and as a kid he wanted to change it to James. So I call him James. This song, to me, has a sick love-song type connotation to it just because of this one man.

    General Comment:This song is Justin's toilet singing about Justin getting food poisoning at a fast food place and throwing up all night. NO FOOLING!! I seriously heard that Justin went to a fast food joint where the name involved James, the so-called servers have the SAME dozen-odd words they repeat to EVERY patron, and Justin got food poisoning and spent an entire night kneeling before his toilet; next time you listen to this song, imagine that Justin is throwing up and his toilet is talking to him. SERIOUSLY!!!

    General Comment:this song isnt only torturing james because of what he did to justin,I think justin know not everyone was cheated on by james or had his girlfriend cheat on him with james,I think justin knew everyones felt this way,everyone has had someone that they just want to torture for what theyve done

    General Comment:hxcnuggets, you could be right, but really, Twilight is such a poorly written book-- there's no way Stephanie Meyer could come close to describing the hatred that is expressed in this song. Anyway, yeah, I agree with everyone who mentioned James being Justin's childhood friend... really fun song to listen to, if you don't mind a little anger. >:)

    General Comment:Have any of you ever read the Twilight saga? Well, Stephanie Meyer (the author) is a huge fan of Blue October. In the saga there is a vampire that wants to kill Bella, his name is James. Meyer has said in many interviews that she listened to our Blue buddies while writing the book, I'm just wondering if maybe this song could have had any effect on the hated character in the series, I mean come on... she has said it herself that she is obsessive over Blue October. I think it is a huge possibility. If you have read any of the books, send me an email or IM telling me what you think; I would love some further insight into this. hxcnuggets@aim.com

    General Comment:I know that this song was written about Justin's former best friend. But to me this song has a totally different meaning. I was molested by a man named James when I was a child. This is my venting song. I'm glad they didn't go into alot of details. It leaves the song open to interpretation.
