gray chairs cold but here for me
thankfully i dont miss your skin
or the way that you always have something to say
lose myself in you
cut it in you
with my rusty fingers
what id do for one more day
without you
im leaving again on metal heart breaker
all i wanted to say was
fuck you
miles away but you still seem to be here
i never took your eyes out of my bag

General Comment:I was very much in love with this boy in high school and we spent many nights singing this song to one another but changing the lyrics around. It was our song and many memories linger fresh in my mind still when I hear it. It's now a pretty painful reminder of true love not lasting. We went through a period of time completely not speaking and then hating one another. We ended up becoming friends again but the pain was too fresh and he moved away. I used to go the park and sit on the same benches we would sit on and the "grey chairs cold but here for me" made so much more sense. Even though it was agony sitting there without him at least I had the memory to hold on to. When he sings "thankfully I don't miss your skin or the way you always..have something to say lose myself in you cut it into you" its almost as if he is singing this to try to convince himself that he doesn't miss her but deep down he does. The worst part about this song? "Miles away but you still seem to be here. I never took your eyes out of my bag" to me, it's true. It's been almost 7 years since he left and I never forgot the way his eyes looked and I carry those memories around with me everywhere.

I don't think you can truely understand this song until you have related so well to it.

General Comment:good call, dude. i was a fan of the whole getting over a relationship thing, but that definitely does make a lot of sense now that you've mentioned it. it's not just apathy is a cold body though, it's many songs on you come before you that tie into this theme. Loved Ones (Excerpts From Speeches Of How Great You Were, Are, And Will Never Be Again) hits that theme hard on the head.

General Comment:Wow... I think I've just had a revelation (ish). I think this song ISN'T about someone he had a relationship with (like a girlfriend) but about his dad. Because I believe that Apathy Is A Cold Body on You Come Before You is about his dad having dimentia. I have absolutely NO idea if that's true, but that's what it looked like from the video. And if you read the lyrics with that thought in your head it really makes sense. "Grey chairs cold but here for me" like the chairs in a hospital. I could anylise almost every line for you, but you can do it yourself from there I'm sure. Oh btw... Someone might have already come up with this thought... I dunno cause I didn't read all the comments. Sorry if they have.

General Comment:this song is great, i got everysingle word right from the beginning, most of you need to get your ears checked because he's singing it softly and clearly, none-the-less beautiful.

seriously, why would you think he says "melt away" not only can you distinctively hear him say the "s" sound on "miles away" but it would also contradict the meaning of the song.

jesus christ, if you're going to be a fan of poison the well, do it right.

    /rolleyes

General Comment:KurtCobain2727 they are not from scandinavia. you stupid fuck.

    i love this song.

i think its not getting over someone.
i think this song is about that no matter what he does he can't get over her. and he says he dont miss her or think of her, but really he does. i quess everyone goes through that after you are fallen in love seriously and you get your heart back shattered. thats just me...

General Comment:i love the bitter lyrics and the unique imagery of rusty fingers and metal hearts.. but im not a big fan of the last two lines, especially the second last line:

miles away but you still seem to be here

those words echo in so much more songs
