I took her out, it was Friday night
I wore cologne to get the feeling right
We started making out and she took off my pants
But then I turned on the TV

And that's about the time that she walked away from me
Nobody likes you when you're 23
And are still more amused by TV shows
What the hell is ADD?
My friends say I should act my age
What's my age again?
What's my age again?

Then later on, on the drive home
I called her mom from a pay phone
I said I was the cops
And your husband's in jail
This state looks down on sodomy

And that's about the time that bitch hung up on me
Nobody likes you when your 23
And are still more amused by prank phone calls
What the hell is caller ID?
My friends say I should act my age
What's my age again?
What's my age again?

And that's about the time she walked away from me
Nobody likes you when your 23
And you still act like you're in Freshman year
What the hell is wrong with me?
My friends say I should act my age
What's my age again?
What's my age again?

That's about the time she broke up with me
(Stay with me)
No one should take themselves so seriously
(Stay with me)
With many years ahead to fall in line
(Stay with me)
Why would you wish that on me?
(Stay with me)
I never want to act my age
What's my age again?
What's my age again?

What's my age again?

My Opinion:From what I can tell, the song is about not wanting to grow up, and the repercussions of not growing up. I can relate. Half the time, I'm serious, but the other half I act like a kid. Hey, it's fun, no one should ever wish me to grow up, stop telling me to, let time take its course and I will eventually turn out. No one should ever want to grow up.

General Comment:It's definitely "please stay, Wendy". As in Wendy Clear.

This sounds cliche, but this is one of blink's best. :)

General Comment:basically they do say "please stay wendy" around 1:49. For those who know about music. Its in the background where the chord goes with the main lyrics "that's about the time that she broke up with me" and they're going half time saying "please stay wendy" in the background. The notes on a piano, oboe, or flute would be B, F, D, and E. I'm not sure on a guitar but there should be websites for it. The last time they say it right before the grand finale they only halftime the "please stay" and hold "wen" for 4 counts and "dy" for 4 and the note for that one is C. after that then the instrumental comes in until the last "what's my age again?"

Another message to this song, to me anyway, is that it's good to stay young at heart. If you watch the "Breakfast Club" there's a line that says "When you get old you're heart dies." The guy in this song sounds pretty fun loving, and hopefully no matter how old he gets he'll never lose that.

General Comment:This song is funny, but to me it has some deep meaning. If you listen to some of the lyrics "that's about the time that bitch hung up on me" or "she walked away from me" it's very easy to relate to for many young people.

When I was young and in high school I was a little immature, not the least bit unusual, but I was a good kid. Everyone kept telling me how wonderful I was, but then I turned 19 and started college and everyone turned into jerks. They were basically saying "Ok you're an adult now. You're not 18 and younger anymore. Be more serious." I was mature, but I still had some of that high school mentality, and people just expect you to morph into an adult over night. You're still young between the ages of 18 and 25, and people need to understand that. Alternatively, though this part has little to do with the song, people need to stop judging these young adults and let them explore different styles and learn things on their own. If 21 year olds want to drink don't judge them for that.

The message to me is don't be in a hurry to grow up. You have your whole life ahead of you.

    General Comment:This Song is BRILLIANT.
Obviously it's about a guy who don't want to grow up and it gets the consequense that a girl dumpes him. I always feel sorry for the guy when he sings Why would you wish that on me?/
I never want to act my age". And I can understand him so well.

General Comment:In the last verse I'm not sure if he says:
"With many years ahead to fall in line"
    or
"With many years ahead to fall in love"
