A freight train to the right, feeling that sting of pride
It's fucking with me, it's fucking with you
All's fair in love and war until you say it isn't but you're wrong

Words on the back of flyers, my clothes are in the dryer
It means nothing, nothing is changing
La familia is dead and gone, the children grew up and moved on

Is it too much to ask for the things to work out this time?
I'm only asking for what is mine
I wanted everything, I got it and now I'm gonna
Throw it away, I'll throw it away (yeah)

Prime select and a box of glazed, pulling fly-bys on days
When we were young and innocent
Elbow-drop Sundays when Mark Eaton got beat to shit

Laughing at the bands we hate, all the spots we used to skate
They're still there, but we've gone our own ways
I know it's for the best but sometimes I wonder
Will I ever have friends like you again?

Is it too much to ask for the things to work out this time?
I'm only asking for what is mine
I wanted everything, I got it and now I'm gonna
Throw it away, I'll throw it away (yeah)

Is it too much to ask for the things to work out this time?
I'm only asking for what is mine
I wanted everything, I got it and now I'm gonna
Throw it away, I'll throw it away (yeah)

You're gonna drown in the mess you make
Your self-inflicted hate
You turn your back on the friends you lose
When they don't follow all your rules

But people are what they wanna be
They're not lemmings to the sea
Maybe it's time you looked at yourself
And stop blaming life on someone else

General Comment:Dude Ranch was the last CD before Scott Raynor was replaced with Barker. He was booted due to his addiction to drinking, maybe Lemmings (since mark is singing) is his reaction to this situation. "They're still there, but we've gone our own ways
I know it's for the best but sometimes I wonder Will I ever have friends like you again?"

Seems like a good analysis, and having "I'm sorry" as toms goodbye also? "And there's no harm
At least nothing I can see
As for you, not so true
You couldn't choose where his road would lead"

    idk, just a thought

Song Meaning:I really firmly believe that this song has something to do w/ graffiti among other things. The first line "A freight train to the right, feeling that sting of pride.." Graffiti is commonly painted on freight trains.

As a graffiti artist myself I always think of it when listening to that lyric...it's all I can come up w/.

Truthfully the whole song is amazing and has affected me deeply. The lyrics are very real, not radio material of today. Something that if you got into it @ an early age, which I did, may affect you for a lifetime positively.

General Comment:The best line in a song ever is, "But people are what they want to be. They're not lemmings to the sea."
    So fucking true.

The line "Feeling that sting of pride. It's fucking with me, it's fucking with you."
That is a reference to Pulp Fiction I reckon because in PF there is a line, "You feel that sting big boy, huh. That's pride fucking with you. You gotta fight through that shit!" And because in the thank yous for Cheshire Cat they acknowledge Pulp Fiction.

General Comment:my friends and i think this song is about blink saying goodbye to the local punk rock scene that was so good to them as they realized they were moving on to bigger things as a band thats also why i think they put it at the end of the album

General Comment:best song ever, not just blink but of all time. the lyrics remind me of me and my friends, who have all split up and gone to seperate colleges, and the line 'I know it's for the best but sometimes I wonder
Will I ever have friends like you again?' always hits home!!! this is a song about saying goodbye to your childhood, which is something everyone has to go through.
I love blink cos everyone of their songs has a meaning that I can relate to, and im sure everyone feels the same

General Comment:i love the song and i think it is awesome. but i want to point out that lemmings do not actually jump off of cliffs and committ suicide because they are following each other...that is a myth that was popularized by some movie. nevertheless people think it is the truth and it makes a great symbol for the song. just wanted to clear it up.
