    General Comment:i always thought they were named after the street Beulah in San Francisco (their & my hometown). and this song is very much not about a girl. it's about punk rock, and their first real discovery and love of a musical genre.

    General Comment:No body ever thought of a relationship where he has lost her because she has past away, a silver lining is described for the inside of caskets and hence the lyrics "She’s not young, but she’s not old yet" describing she has lived but has died and will never grow old and that same pattern can be found in different lyrics of the song

    General Comment:The beauty of any song is that the listener takes away from it what he or she wants to. If you find beauty in it, then it's beautiful, even if you get a completely different meaning out of it than the artist did or intended to evoke.

    But I'm with WhiteTide -- "Punk rock was my first girl" allies punk rock with being a girl, with the narrator declaring that punk rock means/meant as much to him as his first girl did. But that's just what I took from it.

    General Comment:I have never heard beulah and have no clue about this song. But this band's name has always caught my eye cuz my Grandma's name is Beulah. heheh Anyone know where the band's name comes from..?

    and since this is song meanings I better put what this song means to me. I have never heard it but from what I see here it seems like tree monkey is right. It's about his punk ex-girlfriend that left a mark on his heart and he still remembers or punk music that even though he doesn't listen to it as much anymore it will always be a part of him.
