And if you say your prayers
You will make God happy
And if you do what's true
You will make me happy
I'll keep you in a jar
And you will seem happy
I'll give you breathing holes
You will think you're happy, now

You're in a laundry room
You're in a laundry room
You're in a laundry room

And if you save yourself
You will make him happy
He'll bring you fine rewards
Then you will feel happy
I'll keep you in my room
I'm sure you'll be happy
And if you save your soul
You will think you're happy, now

You're in a laundry room
You're in a laundry room
You're in a laundry room
You're in a laundry room

Song Meaning:Okay Im so sorry to tell people the true meaning of this song or at least the orgin I cant tell you what the man was thinking but only what the man said, Im sorry to tell the people who this song has meaning to and to all the jackasses who ridiculed them for the wrong answer because they think that they are right, fuck you, because your totally incorrect also. The facts, qoute me, fact, is that this song was made about Kurts pet turtle that he had found and taken home and put in a jar,the reason I know this he actually says so in a video its very hard to find but its the truth, sorry, another fact, Kurt didnt like it when people tried to figure out, find meaning behind, or interpret his songs, that doesnt mean that they dont have meaning, maybe he was thinking of something about the turtle and compared it but that isnt what he says, thats why I dont read his journal out of respect I dont think that he would want us to. Fact, if you dont think this turtle exist then watch the music video for this song that was made after he passed dedicated for him, the turte is in the music video and that is a fact it even shows when he found the turtle. Dont beat yourself up for being wrong or having the wrong answer, I thought it was about god also but the only reason I found out it was'nt I asked my bro who is the biggest Nirvana fan I know and who is older than I am and who was actually alive back then and he told me about the video and showed it to me, I was disapointed I felt stupid, but then again Kurt didnt want us to interpret it so maybe he made the song so where the lyrics sounded like to people who are trying to interpret it would be misguided when all along the song is about a turtle, the man was a genius. I didnt come here to gloat about knowing the right answer like some who thought they had it right but who were wrong. I came here because in the past before I knew the real meaning I wanted to know the meaning of the song and thought that somene could help, no one could, so I went somewhere else and found out the meaning and just came back to help people like me who were really interested so Im just glad I could take time to help. If anybody have any questions you can message me or find me on youtube.com/ghosttelivison

General Comment:the song's the lifestyle that many of us live: just going through the motions. the laundry room might symbolize the world as a place where no one really talks or cares about the next person.

General Comment:First off, why are you yelling?
    -----

As a side note, Krist Novoselic referred to this song as Kurt's Magnum opus; he had so many versions, because he could not make the song exactly the way he wanted it.

My favorite version is the one found on Sliver: The Best of the Son.

General Comment:It is said that Kurt wrote the song about the pet turtles he had in the room where he did his laundry (reference to the lyric line of the song "In the laundry room".) This can be understand since Dave Grohl has said that when he stayed with Kurt he noticed Kurt's turtles.

General Comment:andd i didnt know it was about god either!

my version says "make him happy"

but i've heard theres 2 versions..

i thought it was about a relationship with a partner who controls the other too much..

does anyone know why they changed "god" to "him"?

    too controversial maybe??

    General Comment:To Grungehead.

No, this isn't the Sliver version. This is the one from the Barnyard Demos (Labeled on tape as "Mellow 4-Track Shit") where Cracker (Polly) was first recorded also.
