  General Comment:WOT A CRACKER OF A SONG! IN EVERY WHICH WAY! GENIUS. 1CE AGAIN I HAVE NO BLIEFE THAT THIS SONG CONTAINS ANY DEEP & MEANINGFUL MESSAGE, JUST MORE FANTASY. WHICH IS THE REASON I LOVE DIO SO MUCH. I CANT QUITE HOWEVER, FIGURE OUT ENTIRELY WHAT THIS STORY IS ABOUT. I KNOW BABYLON WAS THE 1ST HOLY CITY, 2 MY KNOWLEDGE THER WERW NO GATES. EXEPT PERHAPS 2 THE FAMOUSE HANGING GARDENS, WHICH I THINK WERE MADE BY A KING FOR HIS WIFE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. THE CHORUS IS VERY SINISTER, ABOUT THE DEVIL. BUT THE VERSES ARE VERY INTENSE & ENTRANCING. I HAVE A FEW IDEAS WHAT THIS SONG MAY BE ABOUT, 1 IS THAT DIO IS THE DEVIL HIMSELF TRYING 2 CAPTURE A PERSONS SOUL (I LIKE 2 THINK OF A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN, POSSIBLY VIRGINAL, BECAUSE ITS VERY ERROTIC, I THINK) OFFERING WONDERFULL THINGS THAT MOST PEOPLE COULD ONLY DREAM OF & CLAIMING THER SOUL IN RETURN. ACTUALLY QUITE LIKE SATAN DID 2 EVE IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN... THE 1ST STANZA IS DEFFINATELY SAYING COME 2 ME & I WILL GIVE YOU WONDERFUL THINGS, TAKE YOU WONDEROUS PLACES! THE 2ND IS PERHAPS SEXUAL, "MOVE CLOSER 2 ME..." "I THINK YOUR READY 2 C THE GATES OF BABYLON" THE LAST BIT MIGHT BE LIKE I CAN SHOW YOU HEAVEN (ORGASM?) "THE POWER OF WHAT HAS BEEN BEFORE RISES 2 TRAP U WITHIN" COULD BE REFFERAL BACK 2 EVE, OR JUST GENERAL TMPTATION WHICH HAS OVERCOME MANY PEOPLE BEFORE. "A MAGIC CARPET RIDE, A GENIE MAYBE MORE" OFFERING 2 SHOW WONDERFUL, MAGICAL PLACES AT THERE COMMAND LIKE A GENIE....OR THE DEVIL. I THINK THE CHORUS IS JUST TO SAY DONT FALL FOR THE DEVILS SEDUCTIONS/TEMPTATIONS, HE OWNS U THEN. I THINK THE VERY LAST LINE, "THE DEVIL IS ME & IM HOLDING THE KEY 2 THE GATES OF SWEET HELL BABYLON" IS EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS, I AM THE DEVIL & I HOLD THE KEY 2 YOUR DESIRES BUT IN RETURN U MUST ENDURE HELL. SO IN ALL, MAYBE A THERE IS A MESSAGE HERE, THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES BEFORE YOU SUCUMB TO TEMPTATION. BUT I DON'T THINK THATS WHAT ITS ABOUT, ITS JUST A VERY ENTERTAINING STORY. ENJOY.

  General Comment:Dude.. Blackmore got me into guitar.. and Dio into rock/metal.. Them together is the best thing ever to me lol.. I used to listen to early deep purple, and some Sabbath ( heaven and hell ) and also Dio, and Elf.. but when the 2 got together.. omg It was, is, and will be awesome

  General Comment:Agreed with maidenfan, the yngwie version is awesome, as so are alot of his other covers from his inspirations album. ^__^ The song itself maybe is like the ultimate sin city itslef, in the way that it's a place where the erotic (not to be perverted) or occult pleasure can be accesed only if wanted to. Or I might be totaly worng. ^__^ Wouldn't be surprised there!
  Although, my favorite song that Dio does is Sails of Charon, another Yngwie cover. =^__^=
