She's like the wind through my tree
She rides the night next to me
She leads me through moonlight
Only to burn me with the sun
She's taken my heart
But she doesn't know what she's done
Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I have anything she needs
She's like the wind
(SOLO)
I look in the mirror and all I see
Is a young old man with only a dream
Am I just fooling myself
That she'll stop the pain
Living without her
I'd go insane
Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I have anything she needs
She's like the wind
Feel your breath on my face
Your body close to me
Can't look in your eyes
You're out of my league
Just a fool to believe
(Just a fool to believe)
She's like the wind
(Just a fool to believe)
Just a fool to believe
(She's like the wind)
Just a fool to believe
(Just a fool to believe)
She's like the wind
(Just a fool to believe)
Just a fool to believe
She's like the wind
(Just a fool...)
(She's like the wind)
(She's like the wind)
(Just a fool...)
(She's like the wind)
(Just a fool...)
She rides the night next to me
She leads me through moonlight
Only to burn me with the sun
She's taken my heart
But she doesn't know what she's done
Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes

''Am I just fooling myself
That she'll stop the pain''
I see this line as very multilayered. It tells us that that the singer is in some sort of deep depression/pain in his life that has nothing to do with the woman. It bring to the light the parodoxical nature of the song, does he really love this woman afterall? 'Am i just fooling myself'... Or is he simply looking for an escape route from his pain/depression and hence sees her solely as a force to end the suffering? Afterall,he wants to 'stop the pain' and the pain is seperate from her,it's something else on his mind that is troubling him and he needs relief. If so then it's not a love song, there's little love involved,it's more to do with the singer needing an escape from his pain and that is'nt love.
So important to my childhood!Great to fall in love:)
This song is written by Patrick about his wife, Lisa.
For the first say 10 years of their relationship he didn't feel good enough for her and always worried she would leave him.
I love listening to this song and feeling the love that they shared. What a beautiful couple.
I have a little fantasy that Patrick recorded other music that will one day be released as he is definitely a beautiful songwriter and singer, and altogether a beautiful man.

Eleanor Bergstein (Dirty Dancing's writer) was on a plane with Patrick. He gave her a tape to listen to a song... and it was this.
What I love about this so much is that it shows a softer side to Johnny. It was a perfect theme because it is music in the film that helps you understand that the biggest change in a character is Johnny...
I agree with the wind blowing concept.
She's like the wind through my tree
(She crosses his bath and sets motion in him)
She rides the night next to me
(Hard line... I actually consulted a friend and that didn't go anywhere. I'd love input!)
She leads me through moonlight
Only to burn me with the sun
(She's there in the day but not the night. Maybe they're strictly sex. It could be more metaphoric.)
She's taken my heart
But she doesn't know what she's done
(She doesn't know he's that deep)
I look in the mirror and all I see
Is a young old man with only a dream
(He thinks he's passed the point of having anything to offer her.)
Am I just fooling myself
That she'll stop the pain
(He's setting this possible love up to be all reason for life)
Living without her
I'd go insane
I guess this is just one of those love songs that every girl likes... because they wish that it was about them!
''She rides the night next to me
(Hard line... I actually consulted a friend and that didn't go anywhere. I'd love input!)''
This line is pretty self explanatary.Means that she helps him through the dark lonely times as 'night' is associated with darkness and loneliness.
''She leads me through moonlight
Only to burn me with the sun
(She's there in the day but not the night. Maybe they're strictly sex. It could be more metaphoric.)''
mmm I think you are mixing the 2 up here,if she leads him through moonlight then it suggests that she comes to him at night[perhaps for no strings sex or just platonic friendship but he secretly loves her].She obviously leaves then after the sex/friendly visit and it turns into day and he pines for her and is in agony that she is gone.Another way of reading it is that he loves the frienship/no strings sex she brings but hates the pain she brings by refusing a relationship or if she's just a friend then not recognising his secret love for her.
''I look in the mirror and all I see
Is a young old man with only a dream
(He thinks he's passed the point of having anything to offer her.)''
I see this as him recogising that she is the only thing good in his life yet at the same time his dream is just that-a dream that reality will squash. He will be the same in his old age as he will be now in his youth-a man with just a dream of having this woman who in reality will never return his love. The line is extremely morbid, dark and depressing as he sees no future or hope ahead for him.
''Am I just fooling myself

(He's setting this possible love up to be all reason for life)''
