Lyrics for The Triumph of Our Tired Eyes as interpreted by BonzoESC

The Triumph of Our Tired Eyes Lyrics
Sisters and Brothers,
We have surely lost our way.
In strip malls full of cancer,
And a pathetic rain.
Mother, sweet mother,
Please don't discipline your hands.
Just kiss me in the morning,
In your dirtiest pants.

We will find our way.

We will find our way.

There is beauty in this land,
But I don't often see it.
There is beauty in this land,
But I don't often feel it.

People are flowers,
Musicians are Cowards!
Let's argue in the kitchen,
For hours and hours.
Tomorrow is a travesty,
Tomorrow should be ours.
Musicians are Cowards!
Musicians are Cowards!
Musicians are Cowards!
Musicians are Cowards!
Musicians are Cowards!
Musicians are Cowards!
Musicians are Cowards!
Musicians are Cowards!

The soldiers with their specialists,
And the pigs with their guns cannot stop,
The lost ones and the desparate ones and the driven ones.

The soldiers with their cigarettes,
And the pigs with their guns cannot stop,
The lonesome ones and the desparate ones and the smart ones.

So come on friends,
To the barricades again.

So come on friends,
To the barricades again.

So come on friends,
To the barricades again.

So come on friends,
To the barricades again.

We will find our way,
We will find our way.

So beautiful and fragile at the same time, the voice sounds like he's going to cry. I don't think it's pessimistic, it's just true and realy sad.

i didn't think i'd find perfectionsim. but here it is. right here in my ears, running through my head, crawling down the spine, building a big lump of something in my stomach, that is slowly coming up my throat and wants to burst out of my eyes in the form of tears.

incredible.

Correct lyrics, from the official site, www.tra-la-la-band.com...

Sisters and Brothers,
We have surely lost our way.
In strip malls full of cancer,
And a chemical rain.
Lover, sweet lover,
Please don't discipline your hands.
Just kiss me in the morning,
In your dirtiest pants.

We will find our way.

We will find our way.

There is beauty in this land,
But I don't often see it.
There is beauty in this land,
But I don't often feel it.

Pimples are flowers,
Musicians are cowards!
Let's argue in the kitchen,
For hours and hours.
Tomorrow is a travesty,
Tomorrow should be ours.
Musicians are cowards!
Musicians are cowards!
Musicians are cowards!
Musicians are cowards!
Musicians are cowards!
Musicians are cowards!
Musicians are cowards!
Musicians are cowards!

The soldiers with their specialists,
And the pigs with their guns cannot stop,
The lost ones and the desparate ones and the driven ones.

The soldiers with their cigarettes,
And the police with their guns cannot stop,
The lonesome ones and the desparate ones and the smart ones.

So come on friends,
To the barricades again.

So come on friends,
To the barricades again.

So come on friends,
To the barricades again.

So come on friends,
To the barricades again.

We will find our way,
We will find our way.

This song is amazing, simply amazing. I feel as if he is writing about how we all talk about doing something, changing the world but we never do. And he points out that musicians do this the most, through rebeliious songs that dont actualy do anything and thats why he repeats that over and over again. The end of it is then a call to arms, a call to the revolution. I don't know this is all tainted by my own belief in revolutions and the world.

it talks about how we want to change the world but we are doing it in all the wrong ways. We want to change the world and all but we arnt doing what we REALLY want to do. Changing the world only works if you know what you're talking about so people will have faith in you. people have to trust u before you gain power.

Don't forget the very end, where a child (maybe the same one from "Built Then Burnt") offers this parting shot:

When we finally cross the barricades with the angels on our side
When we finally deny all the popular lies
When we finally let doubt and worry die
How will it feel?

Also, a recommendation: if anyone here hasn't read Victor Hugo's "Les Misérables" (or seen the musical adaptation), please check it out! Not only is it a great read, but when you hear the tale of French students manning the barricades in Paris, you'll already have the perfect soundtrack handy.

to melba:

maybe a meaning behind it is that we should reconsider what we believe to be ugly or pretty, because there is beauty in (most) people but half the time we're too ignorant to see it or believe it... or to quote a Rush song: "everybody got to deviate from the norm"

I love the rhyme at the end. As if it's a battle to even imagine a world without struggle. If we got there it would feel completely alien to us, so even just asking how it would feel is a revolutionary step.

Painfully beautiful, because you know that nothing you could ever create could come within touching distance of this music.
