Lyrics for God Only Knows as interpreted by Apeiron

God Only Knows Lyrics
I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I'll make you so sure about it

God only knows what I'd be without you

If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

God only knows what I'd be without you

God only knows what I'd be without you

If you should ever leave me
Well life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me?

God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you

I'd like people to verify this story if they can, I'm taking it from the top of my head. Tony was singing this song. He sang the first line to Brian. "I may not always love you", he sang and played. Brian didn't like it. Asher found himself having to justify. "Brian, that's life. People may not stay together all their lives, and so be it when it happens". He was struck by the pure beauty of it, and, from my personal point of view, anything that's voted the best Beach Boys song by loads and loads of fans (view Cabinessence for more details) they must agree with me, too.

I am shocked so few have commented on this song, this is one of the most beautiful love songs! The Beach Boys, at their very best! Brian Wilson is a complete genious, and this song is so gorgeous, and sincere!

Great song ... I love the clever simplicity of the phrase "God only knows what I'd be without you." God only knows can either mean I'll be a wreck without you or can be seen as a sarcastic jeez how could I live without you? Clever words and great harmonies.

this song is unbelievable. it makes me teary-eyed. i love it. the second verse, i believe, is the most powerful. he's saying that if she left him, he wouldn't die or anything...but everything would just mean so much left. that's how real, healthy love is. it's a good thing to be so greatful for someone in your life.

Definitely one of the most underrated love songs of all time. It has a SoCal laid back feel to it and the deepness is great too. You can't help but find yourself captivated by it

I think that Dr. Eugene Landy really helped Brian Wilson's career and made him the well adjusted man he is today. I think Murray Wilson was a pretty cool guy too. He was a great father. I think Mike Love should tour as the Beach Boy forever cuz he is the greatest.

Produced in 1966, it was played during a montage in Boogie Nights (at a point where it was 1982 or so). Who cares if it was 15 years off? Songs this great can fit anywhere.

MountainJew, i do not know where you get your sources, but no where have I ever read that. Anywho, this song is once again a great love tale. It fits perfectly in Pet Sounds and shows Brian Wilson's genius.

This song remeinds me of my dad. It is his favorite. He is the reason why I love listening to the Beach Boys. God only knows what I'd be without him and my mom.

Seriously, this song always bring me back to the ending of Love Actually. Lol, but it's totally true. And it fits seriously well. That's how I got to know this song and now i'm not embarrassed to like the Beach Boys at 15. :D

Is this the theme song of the television show on HBO called 'Big Love'? I heard it for the first time when I tuned in and I really, really loved it. It's such a nice song so I decided to find out what it was but I couldn't find it. However, I searched the first line or so for the lyrics and the Beach Boys came up. I think this is the song I'm talking about because when I first heard the song, it reminded me of them. Anyway, I'm rambling now. Nonetheless, this is a really wonderful song. :)

winnie cooper had moved away from the neighborhood and started going to a different school, but kevin arnold wasn't about to give up on his first love. their schools had a joint field trip to the museum and kevin made an arrangement for winnie to ride on his bus with him. things weren't the same though as they were when they were neighbors. winnie was at a new school and made new friends. there was a disconnect felt during the field trip that reverberated through poor kevin's world as it started coming down around him. they had a fight and when kevin came back to the bus he found the necklace he had given to winnie laying on the bench they had shared. this song was playing in the background as an older kevin narrated the scene, "and that was the moment i knew winnie cooper, the girl next door, was gone forever". the show closed with the ending chorus repeat playing over the credits while a generation who grew up watching The Wonder Years vicariously felt the heartbreak of a boy losing his first love.
