Money talks
But it don't sing and dance
And it don't walk
And long as I can have you here with me
I'd much rather be
Forever in blue jeans
Honey's sweet
But it ain't nothin' next to baby's treat
And if you pardon me
I'd like to say
We'll do okay
Forever in blue jeans

Maybe tonight
Maybe tonight, you and I
All alone by the fire
Nothing around
But the sound of my heart
And your sighs

Money talks
But it don't sing and dance
And it don't walk
And long as I can have you here with me
I'd much rather be
Forever in blue jeans, babe

General Comment:I know of this lady who tells me she meet Neil Diamond while she was at the Holiday Inn with some friends from college in the mid 70's and she and Neil Diamond spent the evening talking about various things including blue jeans. She claims that many things in this song came from their conversation.

General Comment:As best I can interpret the song is simply saying that he would much prefer to have his loved one than be rich. A "money can't buy happiness/love" message.

General Comment:This song makes me want to hear Red and Blue Jeans by The Promise Ring. I think that's what this song means.
