    I don't particularily care for Diamond, so sell away !!! And I really can see him wearing ugly Ugg boots. They were made for him!

  General Comment:Anything Diamond touches truly "sparkles", including the vast majority of his wardrobe. Disputedly the best showman in the history of broadcast music. He gives his heart to the audience. America is a sterling example. All hail Neil!

    i think that only people who are not originally from america hang on to that term and strive to become it - just like a dream because being "american" in the popular sense is something that does not exist, just like the american dream. ive never known if neil diamond was being cynical in this song, like bruce springsteen or simon and garfunkel, or is he was honest about what he was saying...

  General Comment:I agree with you lisap86, this song fills American hearts with patriotic pride. I wish Reagan had used this song as his 1984 re-election campaign theme.
  No other song-not even the national anthem-encapsulates the ideals that American was founded on.
