Into a strange new world, into the after
all your tears, might find you've fallen too far
Take another look, take another ride
Can't we make them leave the hate behind
And I still believe in nothing
Will we ever see the shape of tomorrow?
Into the empty storm, into the formless
loss of hope, where we can forget the game
And I still believe in nothing
Will we ever see the cure for our sorrow?
Nothing is sacred when no one is saved
Nothing's forever so count your days
Nothing is final and no one is real
Pray for tomorrow and find you're empty still
Nothing
all your tears, might find you've fallen too far
Take another look, take another ride
Can't we make them leave the hate behind
And I still believe in nothing
Will we ever see the shape of tomorrow?
Into the empty storm, into the formless
loss of hope, where we can forget the game
And I still believe in nothing
Will we ever see the cure for our sorrow?
Nothing is sacred when no one is saved
Nothing's forever so count your days
Nothing is final and no one is real
Pray for tomorrow and find you're empty still
Nothing

I am pretty sure Warrel is Atheist....he just does not ever COMPLETELY explain his lyrics or his beliefs, that is the beauty of it. You can interpret his lyrics different ways, I've heard him say that's what he wants. It keeps you interested even after the 1000th time hearing a song. On the other hand, if you don't get it, too damn bad, he doesn't care :) The closest I've ever seen him come to saying he is Atheist straight out (besides lyrics) is saying he has the complete oposite beliefs of Dave Mustaine (whom, as we all know, is a born-again Chrisitian).
As far as him questioning the existence of god....I don't know. I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I think he uses god as a metaphor and talks about hating the idea of god and how it holds people down.
In some of Nevermore's songs, I can see him questioning the idea of a god, but in his solo project he is a lot more direct.
Judging from interviews and this song in particular (which, to me, sounds indirectly religious - despite not directly mentioning God), it sounds like Warrel Dane's an agnostic but leans more towards atheism than theism (similarly, the bandmembers in Kamelot strike me as agnostics who lean more towards theism). In this song, he's proclaiming that right now he has a difficult time believing in God. But he also knows that he could be wrong about his disbelief, and he's not flat-out rejecting God either. Despite being a devout Catholic, I can empathize with and understand what he's saying (even though I don't agree with it). It's a song of wonder, curiosity, and questioning. Not an anthem or declaration of belief.
In a way, Nevermore is like a heavy metal version of Bad Religion. They intellectually QUESTION theism, but they don't flat-out reject or preach against it.
