There ain't no space and time
To keep our love alive
We have existence and it's all we share
There ain't no real truth
There ain't no real lies
Keep on pushin' 'cause I know it's there

Oh, can you just tell me
It's all right (It's all right)
Let me sleep tonight
Oh, can you comfort me
Tonight (It's all right)
Make it all seem fine

I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no

There'll be no lullabies
There'll be no tears cried
We feel numb 'cause we don't see
That if we really care
And we really loved
Think of all the joy we'd feel

Oh, can you just tell me
It's all right (It's all right)
Let me sleep tonight
Oh, can you comfort me
Tonight (It's all right)
Make it all seem fine

I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no
I just can't make it alone
Oh, no, no

Ain't got no lullaby, no, no
Ain't got no lullaby, oh, no
There is no space and time
Oh lord
There is no space and time
Oh lord

We have existence and it's all we share
We have existence and it's all we share
We have existence and it's all we share
We have existence and it's all we share
We have existence and it's all we share
Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there
Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there
Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there
Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there

About a relationship gone called you've only stuck together this long cos ur scared of being alone. You lie to yourself your in love but you gain no happiness from it. "Keep on pushing 'cause I know it's there" means he keeps on searching for that romance.

I think it is about a couple whose relationship is completely based on each others insecurities. "There'll be no lullabies There'll be no tears cried We feel numb 'cause we don't see That if we really care And we really loved Think of all the joy we'd feel" They physically gratify each other to give each other a sense of belonging, as each are too afraid to be alone.

The meaning is in the title, Space and Time. When he says "space and time"he is referring to the distance between him and his past relationship and that although space and time exists, it bears nothing over how he still feels, the love is still alive,

as is he and his ex, they exist but that is all they share in the present moment "we have existence and it's all we share"

the rest is about looking for confirmation that she feels the same, and hope "keep on pushin cause I know it's there"

    My Interpretation

"We have existence and it's all we share"

Not sure if Ashcroft's into philosophy - it doesn't seem so - and I may be saying bullshit, but that's a very Heideggerian sentence.

I think this song is about a bad relationship. The two people rarely get along and they have been together for so long that they are numb to each others' feelings, Hence "There is no space and time". It is a relationship that they know could be much better but they feel that it is unfixable, but they also feel that they could not go on without each other because they are insecure on their own.

It could definetely be about a long standing relationship that is a chore to both people, because they're both afraid to be alone, but they get no joy from being together. However, they keep trying to work on it because they know there would be a lot of joy. When things don't work out, they are so tired of trying to fix it that they just want the other to say everything's alright so that they can relax about it. But in reality they know that it's no good. They know that all the space and time in the world will not be enough. But they still stick together...

Yes Kevin Kyle, spot on..This relates to me. Recently out of a long term relationship and I've met someone else but there ain't no love there. I live at my house, she lives at hers and we see each other 2 or 3 times a week which is more than enough. We get on and she's nice but there are long periods of silence, like existence is all we share. And she's so cold, I always have to take the lead which she always responds to but she won't take the initiative. I can guarantee that. There'll be no tears cried when it ends and I feel numb towards her. Pretty sure she feels the same towards me too. Also, the line 'let me sleep tonight' is me when I'm at hers. 'let me sleep at yours tonight cos its better than going home alone'. Reckon its about a relationship based on physical attraction and nothing else. Some people may think its wrong but it suits us both at this time. Massive song, even more massive album.Mind blowing

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
