Don't bother saying you're sorry.
Why don't you come in?
Smoke all my cigarettes again.
Every time I get no further.
How long has it been?
Come on in now,
Wipe your feet on my dreams.

You take up my time,
Like some cheap magazine,
When I could have been learning something.
Oh well, you know what I mean.

I've done this before.
And I will do it again.
Come on and kill me baby,
While you smile like a friend.
And I'll come running,
Just to do it again.

You are the last drink I never should drunk.
You are the body hidden in the trunk.
You are the habit I can't seem to kick.
You are my secrets on the front page every week.
You are the car I never should have bought.
You are the train I never should have caught.
You are the cut that makes me hide my face.
You are the party that makes me feel my age.

Like a car crash I can see but I just can't avoid.
Like a plane I've been told I never should board.
Like a film that's so bad but I've gotta stay til the end.
Let me tell you now,
It's lucky for you that we're friends.

My Interpretation:The "it's lucky for you that we're friends part" i don't think is put in by Jarvis to say that the song is about someone who only sees him as a friend, but rather, he's being sarcastic. Like the old cliche in a break up is how the person always says "we can still be friends" as if it'll make you feel better, obviously, that's rarely the case. I think Jarvis put that part at the end to be sarcastic and basically say "All this stuff I said in the song really shouldn't hurt you, since friends joke around and we're friends." It's like he's rubbing it into their faces. Excellent song.

General Comment:I can't believe they're actually playing this song live on the reunion tour. They HAVE to bring it to America. And it was used so perfectly on the season finale of the Venture Bros.

Memory:Sometimes people become fixated on one another and know that it's not the right thing for either of them. For whatever reason, they can't kick the habit or get off the train or dodge the party. If this fixation were their primary relationship, it'd be a train wreck. Luckily, they are friends.

General Comment:Fantastic song with such great imagery!

And the last line is the best bit. "It's lucky for you that we're friends."

Obviously the person the song is written to doesn't care about whatever imagined friendship exists between the two. They're just using the singer, yet he still clings to this idea that a friendship exists and is sinking his own ship.

General Comment:I wonder if the "wipe your feet on my dreams" is a reference to the W.B. Yeats poem, "He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven":
Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
