I want to try your shoes on
And wear them for a day
Learn to walk like you do
And say what I see

I'd talk like I know something
That everyone wanted to hear
But you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz

But you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz

The definition of icy
The measure of what's up
You could play the tuba
And everyone would clap

Well I can play the tuba
And they all just shake their heads

'Cause you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz
'Cause you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz

'Cause you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz
'Cause you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz

I know it's over for me
I know it's over for me
I know it's over for me
I know it's over

I drove my car to the top floor
And stood at the edge
When I woke up in heaven
Looked down and no one cared

But when you pulled your own trigger
They all gathered around to watch

'Cause you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz
'Cause you're the Fonz

You're the Fonz
'Cause you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz
'Cause you're the Fonz
You're the Fonz

Because you are the Fonz
You're the Fonz
Because you are the Fonz
You're the Fonz

Because you are the Fonz
You're the Fonz
Because you are the Fonz
You're the Fonz
Because you are the

General Comment:First of all Smash Mouth did not just make up some character "The Fonz." The Fonz is really a character from the 70's show "Happy Days" and they probley watched it growing up. The Fonz was the height of cool at the time, so by using the name Fonz in the song shows that the character in the song was much cooler than the singer. In the song, "Fonz" dies. In the show, Fonz does not commit sucide because he's having too good of a time greasing his hair, driving his motorcycle, fixing cars, and picking up chicks.

General Comment:And, yet, te popular one was still more popular because he commited suicide. Kind of ironic and depressing at the same time. =/

General Comment:I think the message of this song is that being popular does not always bring happiness. The "loser" in the song wishes that he was as cool as the "Fonz" character, but in the end both characters end up committing suicide.

General Comment:This is a good song, about someone who feels worthless, untalented, and basically like a waste of oxygen. I don't think "The Fonz" is actually one person, but maybe he's just saying that it seems like everyone else is better and more important than him.

General Comment:I can't believe no one said anything about this song...i love it.
I saw smash mouth like an hour ago at camp jeep and they did this song, but they change the last verse from "no one cared" to "everyone cared" it was wierd. I liked it better the first way.
