To resist is to piss in the wind
Anyone who does will end up smelling

Knowing this, why do I defy?
Because my inner voice is yelling

There is a fist pressing against
Anyone who thinks something compelling

Our intuit we're taught to deny
And our soul we're told is for selling

Get out from under them
Resist and multiply
Get out from under precipice
And see the sky

Get out from under them
Resist, unlearn, defy
Get out from under the precipice and see the sky

General Comment:"resist, unlearn, defy"....i highly doubt this was an influence in the song writing, but, in Salinger's Franny and Zooey...Seymour says the only way to come to some sort of understanding about the world (through the context of religion) is to "unlearn the differences, between boys and boys, animals and stones, day and night, heat and cold"....
...we are just taught things paying no attention to ask why...its not easy to deconstruct any idea...it is very hard to see things without bias...anyways, the message is a great one...dont automatically accept someone else value system/beliefs as your own...think for yourself

--- Be resilient, with all the obstacles in life... economy, society, culture or anything else there in that hinders you from being you...

General Comment:This song is about the government. If you read the lyrics carefully and put two and two together you'll get it. "To resist is to piss in the wind. Anyone who does will end up smelling. Knowing this why do I defy? Because my inner voice is yelling. There is a fist pressing against anyone who thinks something compelling. Our intuit we're taught to deny, and our soul we're told is for selling." (In easiest terms.... Go against the government you'll end up f**king yourself. Knowing this why do I go against? Because of freedom of speech/wanting to be heard. Anyone who has any thoughts against the government or anything that'll change the world for the best is killed off. We're taught to deny anything that we weren't told is correct. We're brought up to believe that we are nothing but an object. Something for the government to use and abuse... hence our souls are for sale. They "own" us.) "Get out from under them. Resist and multiply. Get out from under precipice and see the sky. Get out from under them. Resist , unlearn, defy. Get out from under precipice and see the sky. (Open your eyes and don't believe in the bulls**t fed to you from them. Don't listen to them and populate this earth (they want about 45% of the world to be killed (the new world order))) Well people I believe that is the hidden message in the song. Also under my umbrella is tied into it. It's along the same concept. In that he is saying he sees the world for what it is and he'd rather be blind. If that's the right way this world should be he'd rather be wrong. He doesn't like what this world has become and where it is going. He'd like a better world for all of us and for us to be able to read between the lines. He also states he refuses to kneel before the sights that someone sees. Therefor against kneeling before what we call America. Something that has turned more corrupt than any prison system. We get stripped of our rights and liberties each and every day by the higher powers. They don't get anytime for doing the illegal activity that they do but we get the needle. People who stumble upon too much are killed or drugged so badly nobody believes a word they are saying and they're committed as legally insane. Open your eyes people. In the constitution it states that if we are being wronged from our government it is our CIVIL duty to rise up against and over throw it. So people spread the message. 9/11 was an inside job. They did it so we can invade Iraq. We need their resources for we have none. There was also a building that was blown up after the towers. (there were bombs in the towers that went off at impact of the plane) The building was called sector 7. It was blown up after the towers had fallen. Look up all of it if you don't believe me. Look up... The new world order, The club of rome, Randy weaver, Ed Brown, Bob Lazar, Luminaties, and the masons. Those are just a few to broaden your narrow minds. Enjoy the eye opener. Thank you for your time. JAKE....

General Comment:I think this song and "Under My Umbrella" from the next album, Morning View, are tied together somehow. They both start with a count-off, the music sounds similar (though "Out from Under" is funkier, cause that was their style then), they're at the end of both albums, and of course, the names: "Out from Under" + "Under My Umbrella" = "Out from Under My Umbrella.

Plus they both seem to be about resistance. "Why do I defy? Because my inner voice is yelling." and
"There is a fist pressing against anyone who thinks something compelling." both from "Out from Under" and then this from "Under My Umbrella" - "These eyes are not your eyes" and "Under my umbrella I'm an accomplished exile".

    Very odd..

General Comment:Yeah, some bits are somewhat 1984/newspeak, but I have to think it has something to do with socialisation/Marxist/sexually liberal themes

General Comment:To resist is to piss in the wind,
it may sound weird at first but its so true..
this is an amazing song, i think its about not conforming in a way and being yourself, not living how they want you to.

General Comment:Actually I think"To resist is to piss in the wind, anyone who does will end up smelling" means that anyone who resists will end up dead. Do you see what I mean? Just a small addition to the great comments already here.
