We could live in a house outside of town,
We could build our own version of society,
Well, there'd be no one to answer to
And complicate our lives,
We could be
The epitome of self sufficient.

Time to pay! To pay!
Time to pay; you've got to pay me!
Why should I?
Why should we pay for your mistake?
To carry on.

Why should we carry on your false integrity?
When you've shown us that you
Can't even keep your nest clean.

So far we've put finacial gain
Ahead of human needs,
Quality of our lives should be prioritized.

Time to pay! To pay!
Time to pay; you've got to pay me!
Why should I?
Why should we pay for your mistake?
To carry on.
Modify your version so we can carry on.
To carry on.

To be conclusive,
I'd like to say,
You've done a super-fine job with your display.
I see now that you cannot comprehend
What it means to respect your life and then some!

To be rich, that would be great.
No, but it doesn't mean POO-POO without your nest!
So why should I pay for your mistake, man?
Why should I?

Why should we pay for your mistake?
To carry on.
Modify your version so we can carry on.
To carry on.

General Comment:This song seems to be about creating a utopian society that doesn't have to answer to any government and whose citizens take care of one another. I think it's a great ideology, but it's one that is unobtainable and, like perfect communism, it works only in theory. Kudos to Brandon though for some lyrics that are far more intelligent than those of his "peers" in the rock community.

General Comment:This song is about how everything in life revolves around money, and everyone's trying to get your money, specifically the government. Brandon is asking why we can't each live self-sufficiently, and we have to submit to the system in which we pay taxes and fines and bills.

General Comment:this is a farely unknown incubus song, although i think its one of my fevorites. Incubus where just incredible during their Fungus/science stage, not that they arent now, but the style of music they where playing then was just amazing and it is very different to anything else going around.

General Comment:the ending part.. that's Brandon and their old DJ..Gavin Koppel. speaking gibberish. Brandon was doing the beginning i think (i haven't listened to the song in a while) and Gavin was attempting Brandon's gibberish tongue n stuff. ...i'm so glad he left the band.. he was a bad influence for Incubus..

General Comment:Oh yeah... I think this song is about how government takes over our lives and we should get rid of it. Or something like that. And I think that it also might be about religion too b/c I know Brandon thinks religion in a restriction.

The speaking in tongues thing at the end is great and b/c of that, I think it might be about religion.

General Comment:I just got Enjoy Incubus and I have to say, this is my fav song on the cd. It shows that Incubus really does play all types of music. I can picture this song playing at a pool party or something. Very mellow and fun sounding with a deep meaning.
