I'm not a virgin anymore
I just thought you should know
Darlin' I've been around
Yeah, I've been up and down your block

In fact, I have been all over town
Down by the lake
And underneath the table in my living room
Outside by the blue blue moon

You can call me what you will
Call me a slut call me a jaded pill
But darlin', I've got your number now

I'm not a virgin anymore
I've been taken
I've been hung up
I get down and start it over again

I've been open
And I've been closed like a book
And burned down like a written sin
I just thought you should know, my darlin',

Before we begin
I'm not a virgin anymore

Just thought you should know
Before you let another lie
Go through those crooked little teeth
I don't think you want to start that shit with me

Much better yet
Tell me something dangerous and true
Oh yeah, that looks much sexier on you

Careful what it is you say
'Cause I can see right through you
On a cloudy day and
Darlin' I think you want to play

I'm not a virgin anymore
I've been taken
I've been hung up
I get down and start it over again

I've been open
And I've been closed like a book
And burned down like a written sin
So if you want to play dirty,

My darling, I'm gonna win
I'm not a virgin anymore

Been there done that
Say what?
Get the hang of it
Get screwed

I screw you I had a whole lot of fun with it
I've had enough now so you better take a bow
It's gonna be a new experience
if you want to play with me

Daisy chains and maryjanes
Fairy tales cannot fool me now

I just thought you should know.

Yeah Right.

Whatever!

I've been taken
I've been hung up
I get down and start it over again
I've been open
And I've been closed like a book
And burned down like a written sin

Hell, I've been divided
Out of my mind and reinvented again
I've been ignited and then uninvited
So honey, you break it up
I'm gonna put it back together again

I just thought you should know my darling
Before we begin

I'm not a virgin anymore

General Comment:when she's saying that she's not a virgin any more she's referring to not being naive or easily fooled by others.

General Comment:I agree with delial. I believe this song is saying "I'm not so naive anymore" and basically telling someone that they won't get one over on her as easily as they think. The lyric "I can see right through you on a cloudy day" pretty much sums it up. I don't believe this song is about sex so much as innocence/being taken advantage of - and saying "uh-uh, no more of THAT for YOU!"

I think it's extremely empowering, and I blast it & sing along whenever I'm in the car.

General Comment:I've always seen it as more about having control over a guy/relationship in general than plain out sex. She sees through the bullshit. You can't trick her with the lies anymore because she has been there quite a few times and already knows how most people put up a front to get what they want. Saying she's not a "virgin" is to say that when you're naive, you can get tricked into a lot of things because you're inexperienced. She's saying if you're going to try playing any games with her, it's going to be like playing with fire because she's not a "virgin" anymore and knows the shit some people make up to emotionally and physically screw with a person.

General Comment:Ha, this song is pretty funny. But it also made me lose respect for her, it's no different than pop music about sex and all that useless crap. Pretty pathetic and sad.

General Comment:Part of why this song is fun is that it is deliberately over the top. "If you want to play dirty I'm gonna win" is at the heart of it ... it's more of a bragging/challenging thing than anything else.

General Comment:This song reminds me of like the perfect first date conversation. Its such an intimidation. To have a girl so confident in her sexual experience and is all in your face about it. Its great I love Poe and I love the song

General Comment:greatness. I hope the story up there about the message on the answering machine is true. sounds like what i did. i think all girls should have a blood red cake topped with cherries when it happens. and this song to go with.

General Comment:also, nicoleinwonderland, if you think the album is scary, have you read the interrelated 'house of leaves'?

General Comment:i kind of get the impression poe is mainly liked by girls and gay boys. however, being neither of those, i still think her albums kick ass, and she's even better live. this song is pretty obvious in meaning, and i think despite the jocular/sarcastic tone, it actually conveys the message rather eloquently. and it sounds great. i miss poe, i hope she comes back soon... =(
