Lyrics for Dream On as interpreted by oofus

Dream On Lyrics
Every time when I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
It went by, like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got the dues in life to pay

I know nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody sin
You got to lose to know how to win

Half my life
Is books, written pages
Live and learn from fools and
From sages
You know it's true, oh
All these feelings come back to you

Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

Yeah, sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream until your dreams come true
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream until your dreams come true
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on

Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

It's when the band was going through some hard times and Steven Tyler wrote it to let out his stress. I believe that's what it is about.

OMG i never thought train was good, but i got a new respect for their singer after they performed this on MTV Icon... of course Aerosmith does it better, but even Tyler said he was awesome..

i think its about growing older but not feeling older and about the past staying in the past and then the second verse i think is about learning from other ppls mistakes and what goes around comes around... its a very friendly song i could listen to aerosmith in my darkest hour and they would make it seem like the best day of my life!!

this song is absolutely priceless, anyone who says less has no appreciation for classic rock, let alone meanings in songs. it's kind of sad but is a good lesson that everyone learns in life. I do agree, this is the best Aerosmith song...

I love aerosmith ,and this is definately one of their best songs. Everyone feels this way at least once as they grow older. "every time i look in the mirror all these lines on my face getting clearer the past is gone" That's priceless. Aerosmith still rocks!

You know what..... For a second, I almost didn't recognize Steven Tyler's voice.... He sounds so much different when he was younger... You can always notice him when he gets to the "screaming" part though... Great song... They have so many top quality songs, how can you choose?

This is the greatest Aerosmith song ever...defintley my favourite one. Aerosmiths older songs are so much better than the newer ones like "Jaded". This song rocks!

In fact, I think it was the first Aerosmith song I ever heard...

Did you know that part of this song has been put it a song on Eminems new CD.... it's actually kinda cool, but it sounds better by itself.

AEROSMITH ROCKS!

There are way to many great Aerosmith songs to comment on, but this has to be one of the best and my favorite, so i chose to comment on it. In regards to Aerosmith as a band, the song was written when they were going through a tough time, albums weren't selling, there music wasen't getting heard, so Steven wrote it telling them to "dream on". To me it means, to not live in the past, live your life to the fullest, what goes around comes around. I think the song holds many different meanings for many different people. Oh and Please don't give any credit to Eminem ...Aerosmith is the best band ever!!!

Hey AnGeL, what are u saying? This was on their first album, Aerosmith in 1973. There were no other albums that could sell. Anyway it is a great song. It is like Aerosmith's theme song, either this or Walk This Way or maybe Sweet Emotion. It's not so rocky but it still is really good. This is probably the first Aerosmith song I've ever heard. Or it might have been Dude (Looks Like A Lady) from Mrs. Doubtfire. When I downloaded this I recognized it right away and was happy to know it was Aerosmith.
