Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free
Oh, Lord, through the revolution

Feed the babies
Who don't have enough to eat
Shoe the children
With no shoes on their feet
House the people
Livin' in the street
Oh, oh, there's a solution

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free
Fly through the revolution

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free
Fly through the revolution

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future

General Comment:What's that you say, Steve — "there's a solution"? What is it, pray tell? Or are you keeping it all to your eagly self?

General Comment:I like how the drums sound in this song, still quite an easy song to play on the drums you gotta love the beat with the open and closed hi-hat. Love Steve Miller!

Seal didn't make a great anything when it comes to this song. This is a Miller classic for Christ sake.

General Comment:Hey guys... Listen to the Eagles' version... It's wonderful... When you listen to it, it seems that you're lost in a dream...

General Comment:ledskynyrd, who says seal ruined it? I heard his version first and was brilliant.

It's definitely about solving the world's problems. It may be a bit idealistic, but you gotta write a song about something.

General Comment:Yeah, the eagle bit isn't about escaping. It's about having the bird's eye view and long-range vision of the eagle.

And I do think this song, however well-intentioned, is a little clunky.

Gave EPMD some good samples, though.

General Comment:I heard this on the radio last night. I've always thought this was one of the most incredibly silly songs of all time. It's ridiculous. This is all I can come up with:

There is too much poverty, hunger, and homelessness in the world. The singer feels that there has to be a solution to these problems, so he is going to spiritually "lift himself up" and "fly like an eagle" in order to rise above normal "earthly" self-centered concerns and seek a solution.
