I need your arms around me
I need to feel your touch
I need your understanding
I need your love so much

You tell me that you love me so
You tell me that you care
But when I need you (baby)
Baby, you're never there

On the phone
long, long distance
always through such strong resistance
First you say you're to busy
I wonder if you even miss me

Never there
You're never there
You're never ever ever ever there

A golden bird that flies away
A candle's fickle flame
To think I held you yesterday
Your love was just a game

You tell me that you love me so
You tell me that you care
But when I need you (baby)
Baby

Take the time to get to know me
If you want me why can't you just show me
Well, always on this roller coaster
If you want me why can't you get closer

Never there
You're never there
You're never ever ever ever there
Never there
You're never there
You're never ever ever ever there

Song Meaning:Well, the video describes the meaning. youtube.com/…
I really wish he would sing more in his songs, rather than just talk. This song really shows how beautiful his voice is.

I especially love his voice when he says: "Take the time to get to know me"
    :'D

This song is also rather depressing. :/ So many heartless women out there, even when it's so rare to find a man who really cares about you. Women like that disgust me.

General Comment:The beginning of this song just makes me laaaaugh. I don't even know why, and my friends think I'm retarded, but I CANNOT keep a straight face at all while hearing the first about 2 or 3 lines.

General Comment:I'm always amazed at cake's ability to capture every part of my life down to the point and manifest it into a song. The relationship was once great, and seemed wonderful. The guy kept caring, and the girl moved on. They are together because he is holding on and she is tolerating. To get him off her back she is saying she loves him and cares for him, but when he really needs her he is disregarded and even if he knows she doesn't really care anymore he still holds on.

General Comment:I believe, "A golden bird that flies away" is really an ironic thing, birds made of gold can't fly, such as the one in the jack and the giant beanstalk. Although this is ironic, I think it symbolizes the girl who seems pretty and perfect but once you get close she flies or runs away (refers to that later in the song, "if you want me why can't you get closer.") As for the "candle's fickle flame,"; I believe Cake was inspired to use this by Elton John's song, candle in the wind, in which he compared the way Marilyn Monroe's life went with a candle's flame also. You can look up all of the things a candle's flame could symbolize but the possibilities are endless so I would just go with the one that you enjoy the most.

General Comment:(I'm pretty sure) Your wrong noodlesluvr1. It's pretty clear that it's fickle.

Does anyone laugh at almost all their songs or am I the only one. All of their songs are sung in a sarcastic sounding voice. I might be the only one.
