Tried to amend my carnivorous habits.
Made it nearly seventy days,
Losin' weight without speed, eatin' sunflower seeds,
Drinkin' lots of carrot juice and soakin' up rays.

But at night I'd have these wonderful dreams
Some kind of sensuous treat.
Not zucchini, fettuccini, or bulger wheat,
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat.

Cheeseburger in paradise.
Heaven on earth with an onion slice.
Not too particular, not too precise.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

I like mine with lettuce and tomato,
Heinz Fifty-seven and French fried potatoes.
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer.
Well, good God Almighty, which way do I steer
For my cheeseburger in paradise.

Verse 2:
Heard about the old time sailor men,
They eat the same thing again and again;
Warm beer and bread they say could raise the dead.
Well, it reminds me of the menu at a Holiday Inn.

But times have changed for sailors these days.
When I'm in port I get what I need;
Not just Havanas or banana or daiquiris,
But that American creation on which I feed!

Cheeseburger in paradise
Medium rare with mustard'd be nice
Not too particular, not too precise
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draught beer
Well, good god Almighty which way do I steer

For a cheeseburger in paradise
Makin' the best of every virtue and vice.
Worth every damn bit of sacrifice
To get a cheeseburger in paradise;
To be a cheeseburger in paradise.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

    Lyric Correction:I believe the chorus is "Cheeseburger in paradise" not "Cheeseburger is paradise" It's fairly apparent if you listen to the song, and other web sources back up the correction.

    General Comment:Man, I love this song whenever I'm hungry and don't want to eat. I am craving a homemade cheeseburger with garlic and onions, topped with ketchup...eaten COLD ! Buffett knows how to make a song that causes the listener to just wanna lie back and relax (and eat:)

    General Comment:Just a feel good, catchy summer fun song from yesteryear. Each time I hear it I drift back in time to those fun summers at the lake camp or in the campgrouds when there was little responsiblity; love (lust) was in the air; and all we could think about was having fun with friends while our parents were elsewhere. I'd prefer a cold hamburger with ketchup, but a cheeseburger in paradise will do!

    General Comment:The more sensible sounding explanation is dieting, however, the fun explanation is that he was stranded on a boat in the ocean. I like the fun explanation.

    General Comment:Yeah, he was stranded and wanted a cheeseburger, and one day they arrived on the shore of Korea I think. I know it was somewhere that wouldn't have cheeseburgers, but they asked em to make one anyways. Jimmy said it was burnt and not much of a burger, but it tasted great to him
