Lyrics for Only Hope as interpreted by messymiss9

Only Hope Lyrics
There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinate cold
But You sing to me over and over again

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
And pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now You're my only hope

Sing to me of the song of the stars
Of Your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that You have for me over again

And I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
And pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now You're my only hope

I give You my apathy
I'm giving You all of me
I want Your symphony
Singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs I'm giving it back

And I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
And pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now You're my only hope

Switchfoot's songs, especially only hope and let that be enough have meant so much to me. God is really using them.

Churches, or at least youth ministries, do sing this song all over the world. The lyrics are so powerful, and I'm sure we can all get something out of what's being said. God wants all of us, not just a part of us. We should surrender to Him. Switchfoot is a great band!

word, the lyrics are still wrong... it's "I give you my apathy", not destiny.... sorry to be nitpicky, but they're still wrong... I really really love this song even though my friends would make fun of me and call me a sap... oh well... peace yo.

This song is so beautiful, I cried the first time I heard it. I'm not even Christian, but I understand the power and beauty of this song. It's one of my favorites.

This song is lyricaly and dynamicaly (vocals and instrumantals) stunning. It is one of the best songs I have ever heard! I'm usually a punk/emo/alternative guy but this is my new favorite song, both versions (this and Mand Moore's version) can never be played too many times. Switchfoot, being a Christian band, obviously wrote this song for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which only makes the song better. I'd personally like to thank Switchfoot for writing such an inspirational and spiritual song. This is truly a masterpiece.

Well, being a Christian, I see this song in a Christian context, and it is truly beautiful to me. (I personally prefer the Switchfoot version to Mandy Moore's, but that's probably just my bias.) jesusmyheartadoresu, I agree. God is the real world. He's the one that controls relationships, love, and every single person we run into in life.

Music is one of those things that wows me, mostly because it's transcendent- anyone, anywhere can enjoy it. To me, the true power of a song is more in the listener than the musician. I could keep going on this topic, but I guess I'm rambling as usual...

Hi, kinda new here... just want to say this is an awesome song and I can see several meanings in it. I guess it just depends how you interpret it. Switchfoot is a great band and I think they have a lot of talent (as I am in a choir and know what it might take to be a sucessful singer... it's so tough and I'd probably never get there!)
Anyway, music is and always will be my biggest passion ^_^ peaces
