SPIN SPIN SUGAR

I'm everyone - I feel used,
I'm everyone - I need you,
I'm everyone - hang your label on me,
I'm everyone - Paint it black and white and easy,
I'm everyone - Sticks in me,
I'm everyone - Sticks with me,
I want perfection - I'm real need,
I've seen attention - See through me,
Call on me - Spin spin sugar
Crawl on me - Spin spin sugar
Stinks on me - Spin spin sugar
Twists for me - Spin spin sugar

My Interpretation:This song message tries to provoke through mockery of societal conformity. The crying part furthers the message by reinforcing the ridicule that we are unhappy by "living for another". Meaning enlightenment is achieved through one's self not reliance on others.

General Comment:shes totally talking about being spun on drugs.
    "...I feel used,
    ...I need you,
    ...hang your label on me,
...Paint it black and white and easy,"
shes pretty much saying she feels used by the drugs that she needs. she wants it to be painted black and white and easy for her to stop, but its complicated.

    "...Sticks in me,
    ...Sticks with me,
    ...I'm real need,"
she sticks the drugs in her, and she needs them..
    "Call on me..
    Crawl on me.."
the drugs are calling her, then she gets spun..then she feels bugs crawling on her, because she is spun
    "Stinks on me..
    Twists for me.."
stinks on me is like saying, 'shame on me'

General Comment:It's about trying to fit in into society by being part of the bandwagon when she says I'm everyone.. she just has to agree and conform to what society wants her to be.. "Paint it black and white and easy" means there are no gray zones, only absolute opposites, either yes or no, for us or against us..
Hang your label on me is about society's consumerism.. To belong and to be a part of the group, she needs to be the consumer of the coolest products in the market..
"I want perfection, I'm in real need" Again, its about physical appearance and materialism. For society, physical image and the possession of things make the identity of the person, how we perceive their worth.. But then again, people who can afford to look that way, and own certain things, all look alike, and they lose their identity as a result of this superficiality..
Spin spin sugar means what it means.. We put up a front, and image that hides the our real character..Everything needs to look beautiful, wealthy, and conform.. It is perpetuated by media and society.. It is a deception , a fake facade of what things really are..

General Comment:to mea, this song is about the societal labels and expectations that are placed on girls and women. as for spin spin sugar, sugar is often used as a label or used when addressing someone. spin spin could refere to how the media spins things into a more positive light. so it is potentially the stress of a young girl struggling with the expectations of the world and how she spins it into a better light basically ignroring the stereotypical demands which ultimately allows them to continue on

General Comment:I think she's kind of making fun of society when she says all the everyone stuff. Just kind of switch the words around or whatever. Everyone feels used, everyone feels like they need someone. Everyone hangs a label on everyone else, painting them black and white, making it easy for themselves. They're all just juding and making it easier for themselves.
As for the other stuff its a little more confusing.
I don't get any of the things paired with spin sping sugar, and I'm a little foggy on what the actual line "spin spin sugar" means. I'm thinking it means taking something bitter (sugarcane) and turning it into something sweet (sugar). But I don't know if sugar cane is really bitter....Just that you're not supposed to eat part of it or something.

General Comment:A great song, still sounds fresh now. I still can't understand why they got rid of the singer Kelli Ali. I thought her voice suited the music perfectly. Their music after Becoming X wasn't anywhere near as good

General Comment:Liam: "12 lines to capitalism and consumerism. The sheer sleaze of life is helped down witha spoonful of satellite TV and a skinful out on the town. Sell me something else. Give me what you say I want, not what I need. It's impossible not to play a part in it."

The girl crying is in the cd version. If you had the actual cd, you'd know. There are many many remixes of this song.
