Lyrics for Bored And Extremely Dangerous as interpreted by Alucard

Bored And Extremely Dangerous Lyrics
With nothing better to do
No one to come home to
I woefully conclude
To take it out on you
I'm bored to the extreme
This world of foolish dreams
Disillusion
I am not who I seem to be
Yeah sure I might do harm
and bear my right to arm
Retribution
If only someone would listen to me
Listen to me
Listen to me
Listen to me
Listen to me

A room an empty shelf
A book on mental health
I look for inner wealth
A punish in myself
I’m bored to the extreme
This world of foolish dreams
Disillusion
I am not who I seem to be
Yeah sure I might do harm
And bare my right to arm
Retribution
If only someone would listen to me
Listen to me
Listen to me
Listen to me
Listen to me

My interpretation of these lyrics is a man desribing his view of his life...sad and filled with problems. He doesn't seem to be aware of the fact that everyone has problems to deal with, many of which are much worse than his. I believe, however, that these lyrics are very unteresting and intrigueing.

To me basically it's just someone very lonely crying out to be listened. All he wants is someone to talk to about his problems. He's alone, so he has to bottle up everything inside and someday he's going to blow up, that's why he is extremely dangerous.

Eh, I think this song could be written about Brett's heroin problem, but even if it was I think that the general purpose of the song is to portray someone who is very lonely and really wants someone to listen to him. The break in the middle of the song with the telephone and clock and stuff is so trippy...

When in doubt, just assume it's about Mr. Brett's past problems.

Exhaust Piper: This song was written by Greg not Brett.

This song reminds me of Comlumbine or any case of school violence. There are kids who are cast out and tortured and they get pushed over the limit. If someone had listened to their cries for help and showed compassion then such tragedies wouldn't happen. In the break of the song I imagine a angry and desperate kid getting ready to go to school with a gun. The phone rings just a few seconds after he closes the door while leaving.

I think this song is about a school shooting. I woefully conclude To take it out on you....hes going to take his frustrations out on the school. I am not who I seem to be...he's one of those nerds that no one likes, but deep down, he's very angry, and needs help. If only someone would listen to me...he just wants to talk to someone, but no one cares enough to listen. A book on mental health...obviously, the person has some mental problems of some kind...the first time i heard this song, and the song stopped, but then the phone rings, and it starts up again, i thought, hes bored with the song, and the phone jerked him back to the present moment. yea...thats all.

Well, the title is a play on "Armed and Extremly Dangerous" and he keeps talking about his "right to arm," soooo... I'm thinking it has something to do with guns and an imbalanced person.

I think it is the school shootings one too...if u listen after the gap when the phone rings, apparently there's a school bell behind it? I don't know if that's true though, as i don't live in America! The pause in the middle is, i think, supposed to express the lonliness that people who do things like shootings are, and then the manic restart shows the switching of their mood from apathy to action.

I sit here reading ppl's interpretations of this song and I can't help but be frustrated.

I believe that this song is about a dark and deeply isolated time in his life. contrary to other outrageously arrogant posts I find this artist to have a deep empathy for other peoples problems. At a point in his life he became extremely disillusioned with the amazing pathological trends that modern society follows. And in the midst of this he fell victim to his own vices and then got to see the the world form a perspective that few ppl can understand. he was able to see how cruel you can be treated when you are at the very lowest of low.

"take it out on you"
"A punish in myself"
"And bare my right to arm"

I believe all had to with heroin and he spoke in the third person likely because he felt beside him self. and in the end no-one but him self. not a sole in sight to "come home to" and shear his fear and anger. in fact his emotions where soo intense in his sober moments that ppl where frightened by and or could not understand him hence no-one would listen. As this went on he grew tired (bored) of it and was dangerous (to his self) due to the risk of returning to another binge.

the shooting up schools interpretation is (I'm sorry) but just seems plain STUPID to me. if you listed to this man words in other songs you would know that he is incapable of such an act.

all in all he is one of the best poets I have been exposed to.

The 'school shooting' interpretation is directly related to "deep empathy for other peoples problems." I don't think anyone seriously thinks Bad Religion has or will write a 'I'm pissed and I'm going to hurt someone' song. If you are in-fact familar with Greg and Bretts' lyrics then you are aware that they sometimes use sarcasm or use another person's perspective to make a point.

Also, Greg wrote this song, and I don't think he was ever addicted to heroin.

I think it could be to do with not school shootings specifically, but maybe the consequences of having such loose gun control and not enough help for people with problems in under educated areas of society. For example, the lines

"A room an empty shelf
A book on mental health"

Are suggesting that this person doesn't read much, and maybe wanting someone to listen to them is to do with psychiatric help to help them express their frustrations constructively?

Will people please stop trying to interpret EVERY FUCKING SONG on Process Of Belief as being about Brett's heroin problem? Can't Stop and Supersonic might be, but every song?

I think this song is about being alone and depressed.

"Yeah sure I might do harm
and bear my right to arm"
When some people get depressed they harm themselves.

"A room an empty shelf
A book on mental health
I look for inner wealth
A punish in myself " Talking from my own experience with being mentaly ill and sitting in my room harming myself I honestly think this song hints at being mentally ill (depressed) and harming yourself.

Yeah i think this song is about isolation/loneliness and the self-destruction that comes from it, saying it's what happends perhaps. "I'm punishing myself, a book on mental health" e.t.c.

I don't think it's about someone wanting to hurt innocent people, i just think it's about someone misunderstood and left lonely and isolated leaving him alone with all anger and frustration not knowing what to do. And all he needs is someone to listen to him really and take him seriously.

Greg Graffin is a very open-minded person who writes songs about serious issues, one of which is a generation of kids that exists now that feel misunderstood. I guess they are all put under the umbrella of emo, and they take a lot of shit from people for expressing their anger and frustration in a manner that the rest of society is not used to.

This song is not about shooting up a school, its just about how people can be assholes to others to the point of driving their subjects crazy enough to react in a way similar to the columbine attacks.

You say "BR is better than that," but what's to be better than? Is it suddenly not punk if you understand what people go through when they are ridiculed in life?

Apparently not, which is sad. People go through this sort of emotion all the time. What isn't punk is to pretend that it doesn't exist, and fail to bring it to people's attention. It does in fact, happen. If you just write it off as "emo" or whatever... you're just adding to the problem.

I'm going to step off of my soapbox now, and just wish to add that I agree with badreligion12's interpretation of the song. It's about the emotions that can lead to something of the catastrophe of a school shooting, or self-mutiliation.

I think people over think this one...

I think its just about how boring life is and about how someone might try and change it, but they see only futility in their actions.

No, it's defiantly about school shootings.

“Yeah sure I might do harm
and bear my right to arm”
Retribution”

Kid’s got a gun, and it’s payback time

“If only someone would listen to me”

This is the usual story about how everyone saw the signs of an angry/put-out kid, but did nothing. So it’s not the shooter’s fault (in his mind), it’s the fact that no one took the time to notice his plight.

alright first off the line is "by punishing myself" as in that's how he finds inner wealth (he, being the person described in te song...not the actual writer). Greg does a part 2 of this song on New Maps of Hell called Honest Goodbye. This song is about the isolation of a man misunderstood or just simply not understood at all whose depression and anger drive him to violence. Greg has a fascination with what makes a human being desire to harm others, he's a humanist.

I think several people got very close with school shootings, but I don't think it's necissarily about a 'shooting'.

It's definitely not about "someone who'se really lonely". At least, not in a direct way. It seems to speak about youth that is quite literaly "bored" with the way they're supposed to live because they don't really have anything to do and is "extremely dangerous" due to the fact that they take this out on other people. This could mean Columbine, but this could also mean beating up a random person for no reason. And all this because nobody ever listens to what the kid really wants, the whole world is pushing him to "go to school, get a job and then you've got it made", to quote a Planet Smashers song.
