Flat on my back
In a lonely sprawl
I stare at the ceiling
Because I can not fall
Asleep tonight
No not at all
Head lights flash
Across my bedroom wall
Crying eyes open
Because I can not fall
In love with you

No not at all
Walk away and taste the pain
Come again some other day
Aren't you glad you weren't afraid
Funny how the price gets paid

Busted in two
Like a brittle stick
I can not drink
Because my throat constricts
Lovesick from you
That will never do
Open my mouth
I couldn't make a sound
I could not scream
I could not shout
It out to you
Nothing to do

Walk away and taste the pain
Come again some other day
Aren't you glad you weren't afraid
Funny how the price gets paid

This may come as a shocking surprise
I have to take a walk
I have to kiss it goodbye
Goodbye my love
Goodbye my love
I am not alive

Walk away and taste the pain
Come again some other day
Aren't you glad you weren't afraid
Funny how the price gets paid

General Comment:Also, when you do alot of heroine or coke, it hurts the insides of your throat and mouth, and it fucks up your sense of taste (everything tastes like shit). When you feel terrible, the drugs multiply your emotions: You could taste the pain of losing Hillel.

i love this song. I like how when it comes on it's played backwards.

General Comment:i love johns harmonizing in the chorus... and is it just me or is the cool little outro good enough to be a little "ditty" of its own? after i listened to this for the first time, i couldnt help playing the last 20 or so seconds over and over again cause its so groovy.

General Comment:It's definitely a deep song and it does grow on you. A very funky guitar and its pretty much a regular rhcp song, but with deeper meaning behind the words. Also, did anbody know that the backwards verse at the begining of the song is actually part of the chorus backwards.

General Comment:loving the song, id like to add 'my lovely man' to the list of most emotional songs... this and that are so upbeat, yet still nearly make me cry...
i also think 'i could have lied' is full of emotion, specially the solo, JF certainly stepped well up to the task of following Hillel
