Long way from home
Lost by an echo never of known
I've got pictures to prove I was there
but you don't care

Here's me overseas
cross the pond by the dover peaks
I've smuggled myself into new nationalities
think you'd be proud of me

There's room to believe
Out of sight
Out of mind
Out of reach
Start over
it's no way to begin

Long way from home
Lost by an echo never have known
I've got pictures to prove I was there
but you don't care

There's room to believe
Out of sight
Out of Mind
Out of Reach
Start Over
Start Over
It's no way to begin

There's room to believe
Out of sight
Out of Mind
Out of Reach
Start Over
Start Over
It's no way to begin
way to begin
way to begin

General Comment:i saw the get up kids on 18/8/09 where they confirmed that this song was written about a british friend that came with them on tour with braid in 1998, he didn't have a passport so they smuggled him in with their gear. The Dover Peaks refers to the cliffs of dover which are at the port of dover, the main crossing point from the uk to calais (france)

General Comment:i take this song as a guy who was in a band ( perhaps the singer of the get up kids) going around on tour away from his girl. he tries to keep her interested in all of his adventures and include her in his new life but she really doesnt care because she cant actaully be with him while hes over there.

General Comment:Not that anyone is going to read this, but this is an amazing song. It was during the summer of 2000, our guard unit got deployed to kuwait and i remembering pulling guard duty outside with no air conditioning. Not only did we have 130 degree weather and miles of sand around us. It was just all out pretty depressing. I heard this song on my mp3 player that my brother loaded and it described the situation I was in. It was all about having pictures, being over there or overseas, being proud of me. It helped me out so much with where I was at during the time because it seemed that the get up kids knew how to relate.

General Comment:This song is about people left at home while they traveled abroad to spread their music. The ones at home feel neglected and just wish they would stay home. On the other hand the one traveling wants them to believe in what they're doing and support them in their efforts.

General Comment:Someone may have already corrected this, but its "out of sight , out of mind, out of reach"

Amazing song. Oh how the ones we love or the ones whom have the ability to hurt us most. Melodramatic, your right.. the accoustic is amazing.

General Comment:This song makes me think about travelling, and how maybe I will never find what I want. What I want is always changing. Just when I think I've found it, it's the one thing I can't have. I may have to wait 4 years to be where I want to be. It all depends on willpower.. and hope. This song speaks of changing, and how the person would be proud if they could see what they have come to be...

General Comment:My exchange student friends and I were so convinced that this song is written by an exchange student. (Being far away from home...people not caring to know about your trip when you come home...feeling out of reach with the whole world...feeling like home is always far away, even when you are home.)

The Dover Peaks, by the way, refers to mountains in Ireland (uh...Mount Dover?...)...So it has a "European adventure" feel to it...

General Comment:i like the perspective stay_gold had on the song. interesting how you can turn lyrics everyone sees as pessimistic into something happy. but i still must say i agree with failurexdesign on this one.
