Walking by the river's edge
Reach my hands to cup the sky
Run down my arms a bitter blue
Trun to red and the gashes grew

The river taste me
I'm so much more than I have ever been
Oh, oh, oh, oh

Take this my arms
Take this my eyes
Take this my mouth
And God it seems to be
Completely true
Oh, oh, oh, oh...yeah

Walking by the river's edge
Reach my hands to cup the sky
While on my arms a bitter blue
Turn to red and the grew

The river taste me
I'm so much more than I have ever been
oh, oh, oh

General Comment:Hey Goochy, I'm sure he wasn't a hardcore addict, but I meant before he started getting that much attention, like right before the band formed. I don't know, probably no correlation though.

General Comment:jalapenachris, im sure he tried heroin, lots of people prolly might try it if theyre into that kind of thing, but theres pics and vids from 91-92 with him in short sleeves. unless he was a hardcore addict, i doubt it'd be that obvious. definitely a very cool song. never thought about the meaning much, but it's that much cooler now that i am.

General Comment:Wow, hear it for the first time and am set back! It's amazing how deep these lyrics are! The guitar is minimal and yet it's incredible. I can see how this song is about each: suicide, heroin, growth.

There was an issue of Rolling Stone I read about Dave( the one with him in the fur hat) and he talked about how he thinks about suicide all the time, and Dave did supposedly take heroin back before he started the band, that's why there are no early pictures of him in short sleeves.

General Comment:Its about heroin addiction and suicide. He's said it himself. (and no its not about DAVE's addiction, nor is it HIS idea of suicide)

General Comment:its ashame how it just dropped out setlists as a full band tune so early in their career. yet again, im probably glad that it has, b/c now i wont have to worry about drunk people talking and calling people on their cell phones during such a wonderful song. it was used to draw a more experimental fan to the shows, and i heard its about dave contemplating suicide.

General Comment:The best thing about DMB is the songs that nobody knows about. Everyone likes Crash, Satellite, and BOWA. But songs like this and other little known songs are what make DMB worth following.
