Lyrics for After Her as interpreted by ThreeMilesDown

After Her Lyrics
sun will shine no matter what i do
sun shines bright now with you
what a wonderful thing for you to do
moon shine bright reflection in your eyes
a finer place he could not find

winter's cold spring erases
and the calm away by the storm is chasen
everything good needs replacing
hope all these changes happen with you

in my life never before have i lover so adored
her eyes her hair everything she says
my delight can tickle me inside
touch my heart touch my mind

no matter what's inside i'll give to her
no need to satisfy my hunger lost in her
and while i spend these hours
five senses reading
with biggest steps i'm running
after her i will run

winter's cold spring erases
and the calm away by the storm is chasen
everything good needs replacing
hope all these changes happen with you

sun will shine no matter what i do
sun shines bright now with you
touch my heart touch me through

no matter what's inside i'll give to her
no need to satisfy my hunger lost in her
and while i spend these hours
five senses reading
with biggest steps i'm running
after her i will run

after her
after her
after her

I like this song quite a bit more than Satelitte. DMB's old producer, Steve Lillywhite, found it fit to change the title from "After Her," to "Satellite," because he felt that it wasn't catchy enough.

I like Satellite better than this too. This sounds like little boy poetry. lol. But its still good. After all, it's Dave.

Why did you post that? If you don't like DMB than why are you even looking at his lyrics? Maybe you are trying to spread the word about AFI, and thats cool then. Anyways, This is a good song, the lyrics are nice, especially around springtime.

I really do like both this and "Satellite". Its odd because on two different dates with different boys I heard each of these songs.. So maybe I like "After Her" better ;-). dMb seriously Rocks. I love their sound no matter what they do. Just an all-around great band.

After Her, I think, has more direction and purpose than Satellite. Satellite has more arcane lyrics; maybe I'm just a straight-foward kind of guy.

I prefer After Her over Satellite, because the lyrics are so great, Dave pours out his heart, fuck that bitch that didn't wanna marry him. But the lyric, "Moon shine bright reflection in your eyes, a finer place he could not find" thats just genius and its true, sometimes theres just that girl where everything about her is perfect. Her eyes, her hair, everything she says, my delight can tickle me inside, so true Dave, so true.

Well it's obviously no seceret that this song was were the beloved Satelite originated from. I have the Ruterbega (sp) that this song cam from, and you can feel the nervousness that dave feels as he sings. He is much more timid and not as confident with his singing at this point. This song is just saying that for the most part everything is gonna be alright, and that no matter how many mistakes you make, eventually things will all work out..... and AFI is ok....

this song really opens dave up. it makes him vulnerable and shows his emotion, like on your sp. i love and appreciate both songs separately because he's passionate in both, but in different ways. in after her, he's opened up completely. he's more poetic and more in love. in satellite, he's hinting at his love and emotions without being so vulnerable.

I'm a big Dave fan but find Satelite to be one of his worst songs. The song is all about...well...a satelite. There's not even a metaphor in the song, it's just about a satelite. After Her, however, while it isn't award-winning poetry, is a completely superior effort dealing with love and senseless devotion. The only good part of Satelite is the refrain lifted directly from the lyrics of this song. Oh well, we still have the old studio demos to live by.

During the part of the song:
"sun will shine no matter what i do
sun shines bright now with you
what a wonderful thing for you to do
moon shine bright reflection in your eyes"
Dave is singing to the moon which would make sense as to how he came up with "Satellite". Also the main guitar line of After Her/Satellite was originally an exercise Dave made up to warm up before gigs.

this song isn't about someone that Dave loves romantically, and yes, it was the predecessor to Satellite, this song was originally on the 1992 Rutabega Sessions Demo, and the song "after her" was about his sister who had been murdered by her boyfriend/husband earlier that year, and the alternate lyrics for the song called Satellite were release on his next album in place of "After Her" because it was felt to be too personal and too sad.

Sister murdered by her boyfriend/husband? As far as I had heard, both his sister and her husband were killed in a car crash. Am I missing something?

This song is absolutely not about his sister that was murdered. This song, like halloween, is about his girlfriend at the time.

Giving reverence to the sun and moon, also the winter solstice and a renewing spring, gives it a paganistic taste for me. A beautiful song, I have been listening to it on and on.

This song isn't about his sister Anne.

This was recorded in 1992, Anne wasn't murdered until 1994.
