Lyrics for Saturday Night as interpreted by iampunk

Saturday Night Lyrics
Oooooh oooh!
Whoa oh oh oh!
Noooo oh oh!

There's 52 ways to murder anyone
One and two are the same
And they both work as well
I'm coming clean for Amy
Julie doesn't scream as well
And the cops won't listen all night
And so maybe I'll be over
Just as soon as I fill them all in

And I can't remember when I saw her last
We were running around and having a blast, having a blast
But the backseat of the drive-in is so lonely without you
I know when you're home

I was thinking about you
There was something I forgot to say
I was crying on Saturday night
I was out cruising without you
They were playing our song
Crying on Saturday night

As the moon becomes the night time
You go viciously, quietly away
I'm sitting in the bedroom, where we used to sit and smoke cigarettes
Now I'm watching, watching you die (oh oh oh)

I can't remember when I saw her last
We were running around and having a blast
But the backseat (backseat) of the drive-in (drive-in)
Is so lonely without you
I know when you're home

I was thinking about you
There was something I forgot to say
I was crying on Saturday night
I was out cruising without you
They were playing our song
Crying on Saturday night

Yeah!
Crying on Saturday night
Crying.... on Saturday.... night!

He was going out with Amy, and killed her. Then he tried to go out with Julie, and killed her.

I think he loved Amy because he killed her, or more precisely, her reaction when he killed her. That's where the line "Julie doesn't scream as well" comes in, because he tried to get that same feeling he got when Amy was screaming by killing Julie, but she didn't do it as well.

He went in and tried to confess to the cops, but they either didn't believe him, or weren't even paying attention.

The last verse of it is him reminiscing on when he killed her, with a full moon out, and she went "violently and quietly" while he sat there and watched her die, they were in a bedroom at the time.

The thing is, the guy could have been crazy.
He could have been sooo crazy he didn't even know what he did until after he did it.
And then it was too goddamn late, because he killed the girl he loves.
So then when he goes to the cops they think he's lying. Because hell, they know he's crazy too.

The line where it says:
" And the cops won't listen all night
And so maybe I'll be over
Just as soon as I fill them all in "
Is saying that he is telling the cops of what he did over the phone, and he will commit one last crime.

Okay, clearly here's what the song means:
"I'm coming clean for Amy,
Julie doesn't scream as well,
and the cops won't listen all night"
He's a serial killer, dating girls and then murdering them. He is coming clean that he murdered Amy, but not Julie because she didn't scream as well, she wasn't his favorite, and because the cops won't sit there all night long to listen to him talk about his murders.
"And so maybe I'll be over,
just as soon as I fill them all in."
He'll be over (he'll stop killing) once he fills in the cops on what he did, because he'll obviously be arrested.
"And I can't remember when I saw her last,
we were running around and having a blast,
but the backseat of the drive-in is so lonely without you
I know when you're home."
He can't remember when he last saw Julie because she wasn't important to him, he was running around and having fun with Amy. But now that he's killed her he's lonely at the drive-in. I think the last line means he stalked her, knowing when she came home at night.
"I was thinking about you,
there was something I forgot to say,
I was crying on saturday night."
He thinks about her alot after he kills her and I think he realizes he loved her (this is why he cries on saturday night), and he didn't tell her before she died.
"I was out cruising without you,
they were playing our song,
crying on saturday night."
He is missing his girlfriend!
"As the moon becomes the night time,
you go viciously, quietly away.
I'm sitting in the bedroom where we used to sit and smoke cigarettes,
now I'm watching - watching you die."
Late at night he kills her in the bedroom where they used to be together. The 'viciously' part is the struggle as he stabs her, or strangles her or whatever and the 'quietly' is her slipping into death. He's watches her die.

Definitely the first Graves song that properly sticks to the 1950s-inspired ethos that inspired Danzig in the first place. Brilliant! No wonder psychobilly is such a great genre if it's inspired by stuff like this!

Well think about it,the first stanza is really the only part that doesn't exactly fit in with the rest of the song. I think everyone is taking the meaning quite literally.
"There's 52 ways to murder anyone" - I think he means emotionally, meaning hurting someone inside to the point to where he kills them inside or pushes them to suicide. Especially when it reads
"I'm coming clean for Amy" - I don't think he means like admitting to killing her. I think he is finally going to be honest with her about everything dishonest he has done. When he says "Julie doesn't scream as well" - I don't think he means torturing her or killing her. I might just have a dirty mind but I thought it might just mean sexually. Basically, that he fucked around with other people, such as Julie, and he realized he just had to be honest with Amy,since he realized that after everything, she was the one that he truly did love...which is why he had to be honest with her. No matter how much he killed her either emotionally or literally. The rest of the song just makes sense after that, that he is sitting around dwelling on what he did and depressed that he screwed up the chance he had with the one girl he actually loved. Which leaves him crying alone on a saturday night as he knows he left Amy to die with his "52 ways".

I agree with Minkler about the first verse,

'There's 52 ways to murder anyone
One and two are the same
And they both work as well'

I think one way mudering/killing someone, fucking up with there emotions untill there's nothing left, and the second way pushing them to suicide. Then 'one and two are the same' because, its basically either her or him killing her for what he's done.

Thats just my thoughts on that verse though.

It's about a guy with a SHORT temper who's remebering one fateful saturday night when he killed two of his girlfriends after probably raping them, attemted to turn himself in, failed, and begun to think about what he'd done and remeber that night. He's remebering the whole thing, "I WAS crying on a Saturday night"

and the lyric is: "and I CAN remeber when I saw her last. WE WERE RUNNING ALL AROUND AND HAVING A BLAST, HAVING A BLAST."

In order:
"I'm coming clean for Amy,
Julie doesn't scream as well
and the cops won't listen all night"

"But the backseat of the drive-in is so lonely without you"-means that he would take his girlfriend to the back of a drive-in and try to rape her, but because he killed them, he's lonely (alone)

"so maybe, maybe, I'll be over, just as soon as I fill them all in."-he's thinking about suicide either after he fills in their graves or he's talking about telling someone what REALLY happened (filling us in).

There's 52 ways to murder anyone
One and two are the same
And they both work as well
(He has killed some one and like a lot of sadist orkillers he is discussing the work behind his life's profession)

I'm coming clean for Amy
Julie doesn't scream as well
And the cops won't listen all (He's going to tell the police tht he killed Amy and Julie, but the confession is because of Amy, she was his favorite and I think he DIDNT mean to kill Amy it was a mistake. he tried to make up for what Amy was with another girl, Julie but she wasn't as good so she had to die)

And so maybe I'll be over
Just as soon as I fill them all in (When he confesses to everybody he's going to jail)

I was thinking about you
There was something I forgot to say
I was crying on Saturday night
I was out cruising without you
They were playing our song
Crying on Saturday night (He remembered the good times he had with Amy when he hears the song that they both used to enjoy)

As the moon becomes the night time
You go viciously, quietly away
I'm sitting in the bedroom, where we used to sit and smoke cigarettes
Now I'm watching, watching you die (oh oh oh)
(Sitting in the room where the had many good times and where she was killed gives him flash backs. He remembers he going "voiciously"- the struggle between them "quitly"-a she falls alseep in death away. He thinks about how he watched her die)

I can't remember when I saw her last
We were running around and having a blast
But the backseat (backseat) of the drive-in (drive-in)
Is so lonely without you
I know when you're home

I was thinking about you
There was something I forgot to say
I was crying on Saturday night
I was out cruising without you
They were playing our song
Crying on Saturday night( Just about how much he misses her and how he wanted to say "I love you" but never got the chance before she was gone.)

Ok, this is what the song is really about. A sadistic, yet truly romantic guy has a habit of fucking, then killing his girlfriends. Then he meets "Amy" fucks her, then kills her, then as he moves on to his next girl, "Julie" he realises that he actually loved Amy. "Julie doesn't scream aswell": The way she screams (in both orgasm, and in being murdered) seem old now, it does not thrill him anymore, since he killed the girl he loved, so he decides to redeem himself. "I'll be over [to your grave], just as soon as i fill them all in [properly bury all the other girls he killed]". The rest is fairly overt, he misses her, they had "their song" etc.

He has murdered girls in every different way, now realising that it doesn't matter how he kills them because they all die in the end "There's 52 ways to murder anyone, 1 or 2 are the same and they both work as well".

Seems about right to me.

I kind of agree with ranger.

I think he killed Amy(not Julie), but he regrets it, because he loved her. But she wasnt the first, so when he tried to kill Julie, he wasnt satisfied because it wasnt the same as with Amy.

But yeah, Im gonna go with Graves. Danzig kicked ass, and the band Danzig is also awsome, but there is something about Graves that makes it that much more awsome.

Both Amy and Julie are his former girlfriends, and he killed them both. He liked Amy best, since "Julie didn't (doesn't) scream as well", so he's planning to turn himself in for murdering Amy (not Julie, since she didn't scream as well).
He really loved Amy, and forgot to tell her that, and he regrets that he killed her. Julie didn't really matter.

I am planning to make a music video of this song... with two of my friends. One of them will be playing guitar in it (in the background) and the other will be singing / main character/

I am thinking about not trying to make the video too specific... meaning i wont include murder in the vid.

half of it will be them "playing/singing" and during the chorus it will be shots of the guy driving and singing...

What do you think?

BTW I think both Danzig and Graves kicked @ss... and Jerry Only needs vocal lessons...

I dont think the killer and the victim(s) ever had any relationship other than in the killer's mind, kind of like a stalker "I know when youre home". Finally having had enough the killer slips in and murders the victim still clinging to the fantasy that never took place. No serial killer that ive read about, and clearly the protagonist is that, has ever had any previous lengthy or normal relationship with his victims, even in fantasies the victims are objects.

"I'm coming clean for Amy
Julie doesn't scream as well
And the cops won't listen all night"

he killed amy and julie. he killed amy who probably was his girlfriend and even though he loved her he ended up killing her (for whatever reason). the guy is confessing to the police for his crimes because he feels guilty. he feels guilty over killing amy ("im coming clean for amy") but not julie, because she wasnt as entertaining a kill / maybe fuck ("julie doesnt scream as well"). he then kind of sarcastically mentions that "the cops wont listen all night", basically that he's only gonna talk about amy, who is the reason he's confessing.

"And so maybe I'll be over
Just as soon as I fill them all in"
like i said he's guilty, so kind of flippantly he says "maybe" he'll stop killing just as soon as he tells the cops about what he did ("fill them all in")

the rest of the song is pretty straightforward, he misses her and he's crying.

the first few lines though, no idea...52 ways to murder anyone? one and two are the same? no idea.
