Lyrics for I Don't Want A Job as interpreted by evilmprss

I Don't Want A Job Lyrics
Departures are so hard
You say
Packing up your things
Your necklaces and rings
Your darvidan and morphine

You can't believe the actor
Smacked her
Gave her a black eye
There's something in a western winter
Where it's easier to say
Goodbye, Goodbye

These yellow lights
are turning red (turning red)
You starve your heart
You starve your head
And when its over
You go back to bed

I don't want a job
I don't want to go to school
I don't want a job
I've got more important things to do

You keep in touch with old friends
I keep in touch with you
Your begging me to make
Every little word count
I don't now but I used to
You still do drugs
I still play games
You prefer not knowing I call you names
In flights of fancy
Grandeur and fame
Goodbye goodbye

These yellow lights
are turning red (turning red)
You starve your heart
You starve your head
And when its over
You go back to bed

I don't want a job
I don't want to go to school
I don't want a job
I've got more important things to do

Wake up to the thought of you
It's december, remember
How cold it was in my garage
You sat with your legs crossed
and your heart lost
mine lost in losing you
Street lights like a christmas tree
But the fires aren't burning
Cuz it's 80 degrees
and I'd like to have you alone
In my favorite cologne
With the air on your hair
and we're still getting stoned
It's a shame the games we play
But I like it that way

These yellow lights
are turning red (turning red)
You starve your heart
You starve your head
And when its over
You go back to bed

I don't want a job
I don't want to go to school
I don't want a job
I've got more important things to do

More important things to do
Than you

I think that this song is about growing up and moving on. Like, they say i dont want to go to school or get a job..i think they mean go off to college and then get a real job. Then i think that he would do anything to go back to highschool and his last love, even though it's impossible.

Actually, for those of you wondering about the non-live version of this song, I do own a studio version. I found it at www.soco-online.net, so if you search around there I'm sure you can find it.

As for what I think the meaning is, I have to agree with not wanting to go to college and wishing to stay in your highschool days with that sweetheart. From a lot his songs, Andrew seems to have a bit of a complex about not going to college- as if it makes him feel somewhat inferior, especially to his current girlfriend. Anyway, I think "I Don't Want A Job" is basically reminiscing on everything he's trying not to let go of before going into the so-called real world.

i think in this song he's saying that he doesnt want a job or to go to school but he'd rather do those things than be with the girl. they r more important things to do than her. and eventhough he hates them he'd rather go to school and work than be with the girl anymore

i love this song. it's nice, sweet, simple. i like the end "wake up to the thought of you, it's december, remember?" that's nice. and the very end, sweet song and then all of a sudden BANG

"i've got more important things to do, than you"

lol so you can take that 1 of 2 ways.
1) you have more important things to do than the other
2) i can't do you right now, i'm too busy

i like number 2 lol. just thought i'd shake it up a bit.
