i actually don't mind some of eminem's songs, and there's no doubt the guy is talented, but in terms of raw talent, not taste, Nirvana (Cobain) was a great deal better.
Eminem sounds good cuz he has help creating catchy tunes.. or whatever they call rap background music... and he easily rhymes the words that make up the things he hates in his life and this world.
Cobain was able to make excellent, innovative music as well as lyrics, lyrics that meant more than just what a person instantly gleans from the words. Nirvana brought alternative to the front during its time, and if it weren't for them who knows where the genre as a whole would be.

Dont get me wrong I like a lot of their shit, but Kurt Cobain and Nirvana are way to fucking overated. Its irritading when ppl talk about Kurt like he was some sort of fucking god. He wouldent be anywhere near as popular as he is now if he was still alive. Plus Eminem lives for getting under peoples skin, he raps about it all the time in his songs. I dont think he means even half the shit he says in his ryhmes, I think he made the Kurt reference cause he knows how popular kurt is and he knew he would piss off a lot of people by saying it. oh and a lot of rappers out there right now aint got no talent, real music has pretty much died for now. rap/hip hop and rock n roll. it still do live on through a few artists in both genres, but not much. it does take a lot of talent to be a good rapper or whatever, examples are eminem and big boi & andre 3k from outkast. basically... anyone can make stuff rhyme over a beat, anyone can play a guitar or drums... but it takes talent to do that kind of shit well..
