Kryptonite

There's some really great interpretations listed for this song by many users, and I think that's what makes this song so great.....It can apply to so many different situations. I think there's some solid meaning behind it being about friendship, celebrity's, drugs or possibly even an alter ego as someone above mentioned.

My own interpretation is it being about drugs, and for some reason I have a feeling that if it were about drugs from this band that it would be about methamphetamine. Although I've never even tried methamphetamine, it just strikes me as the drug that they would be talking about given the contradictions I hear in almost every verse.

"I took a walk around the world to Ease my troubled mind I left my body laying somewhere In the sands of time I watched the world float to the dark Side of the moon I feel there is nothing I can do, yeah"

He's leaving the physical world on a trip through means of drug use, and a sense of hopelessness is now coming over him as part of the comedown after an intense state of euphoria.

"I watched the world float to the Dark side of the moon After all I knew it had to be something To do with you I really don't mind what happens now and then As long as you'll be my friend at the end"

He realizes that this is part of the psychological effect the drugs have on him, and why he feels this way. He doesn't care how bad of a trip he has as long as in the end everything will be alright, so things might be pretty intense right now.

"If I go crazy then will you still Call me Superman If I'm alive and well, will you be There holding my hand I'll keep you by my side with My superhuman might...Kryptonite"

When he get's high off of this drug he feels inside of his head like superman, nothing can harm him. But drugs like cocaine, and methamphetamine can induce schizophrenia and instead of leaving you feel invincible and confident can do a complete 180 on you and have you not thinking rationally and possibly fearful thus you would be acting or thinking crazy and not confident at all more or less scared. The drug holds his hand, as his method of coping with whatever issues he has or just to get by in life. And it is always by his side his "Kryptonite".

"You called me strong, you called me weak, But still your secrets I will keep You took for granted all the times I Never let you down You stumbled in and bumped your head, if Not for me then you would be dead I picked you up and put you back On solid ground"

So the drug makes him strong when he feels like superman, and weak when he starts going crazy after habitual use. And the secrets he may keep are possibly part of his euphoria, that even if he tried he could not say what he experienced but he knows it happened (that ones kind of hard to explain to anybody who hasn't had the kind of high I am talking about, usually with odd or heavy drugs). And the last part to em explains how without the drugs he possibly would be dead, as he needed them as a crutch and were actually helpful at one point.

That's my interpretation of the song at least.
