When the silence beckons,
And the day draws to a close,
When the light of your life sighs,
And love dies in your eyes,
Only then will I realise,
What you mean to me.

    General Comment:Absolutely love this song.

I get annoyed how everyone always thinks its about a lover dying, i think most of them are about a 'loved one' dying, be that a lover, friend or relative.

General Comment:yea, it could be about the mother, but it could mean too, that we only realize how much one person meant to us, and how strong our love for that someone was, when we lose him/her, when he/she's gone. when we find out how much we miss him/her and are left alone...not until then... because i had a similar experience :/

General Comment:ummm i'm not sure about the mom thing, but it seems to me that (simply from reading the lyrics) that it's about a moment when you're sitting with let's say a person you thought you would love forever, and somehow up till then you'd used up all your love and then there's none left for that perosn, and then you remember someone else who you'd rather be with...

General Comment:This song is about their mother, who died in 1998 (just like One last goodbye by the way). In a life concert Vinnie said "were gonna do 'inner silence' and 'One last goodbye' for our own mom, who looked after us very well" So it is obvious.

General Comment:I always thought it was about he himself is dying in front of his love. Either way, I agree with Corax interpretation greatly.

General Comment:Actually, i don't thick the theme of this song is of actual physical death, so much as the death of love itself. And indeed it is true that when love has died in the eyes of your lover, you will pretty soon come forcefully to terms with what that person has actually meant to you..

General Comment:i once rode my bike for a good 25 miles on day while listening to satyricon. i left around 6 at night in the summer.... so it took awhile.... on my way home, traffic died down and i pulled over in a parking lot and switched my cd to anathema's "alternative 4" and put this song on right away. it was such a nice moment and it wasn't made of anything special, just such a nice song which made me remeber my ex girlfriend and things... it was bittersweet. beautiful and sorrowful at the same time. i love it.
