anyone can play guitar, but that doesn`t mean they should. just like anyone can make a record, but that doesn`t mean they should. Radiohead is a perfect example of both situations.

guitar is neat byut I stil stink at it, I need like a WAVE ti MIDI rector on scrneen android play s guitar in strings of my vocal order, it then I copy tracreaches me to play my guitar, immediately direct direct note assignment sung from my imagination, check that duede's site of my name, as if that would: over Good and Evil!

the line, "destiny protect me from the world" is really clever. it would be easy to claim that nothing you can do is wrong cos its destined to happen, and therefore feel that your actions have no consequences that you are really responsble for. the line implies that this would be wrong, because it would be shielding yourself from real life.

hell yea lucyinthesky...that was my thought too. I disagree with all of you people who are talking about playing guitar. Destiny... destiny protect me from the world

I see that as him saying everyone has a set destiny and he is relying on his to protect him from things such as being killed or something like that, like saying he can do whatever he wants cuz he knows what is in store for him so he is immune. also he talks about being in a band and like maybe how thats what keeps him whole and maybe thats protecting him from everything and is his destiny and how in a world of confusion his band keeps him sane but that doesnt change the fact that he is still in the world so he is still confused.

I don't want to be Jim Morrison. I think Thom is being sarcastic, like in 'The Bends'...they asked if he really wished it was the 60's, and he told them he didn't at all, said it was a joke. Jim Morrison was a vapid poet who was made into an idol because of good looks and poetry that was mostly LSD induced...and it wasn't good at all.

well I dunno what the song really means but playing guitar seems to make you somebody. I played guitar once for a school thing and then for ages I'm being called guitar girl and ppl know who I am and even if they don't they know I play guitar. 'anybody can play guitar and they wont be a nothing nemore'.

I always thought "destiny protect me from the world" had something to do with his hopes of being destined to become a rock star - if that was his path in life, to become rich and famous via guitar, he wouldn't have to worry about anything, his future would be secure, he would have everything he wanted and be seperated from the problems affecting everyone else in the world.

That kinda seems to be the theme of the whole song to me - i want to be a rock star. I think just about any guitar player can connect with that.

i awlways knew this song was about death.......he wants to be in a band where he gets to heaven..........he wants to be like jim morrison.......but also.....jim morison was idlized and cult like and like at the top for a dumbass......thats as high as you could be for a rockstar......and heaven is like the the greatest place to be.....he wants to be at the top or something.....so this song could also be thought of as he wants to be the greatest you can be and not be nobody anymore for he plays guitar

Thom saw the film about the Doors' career: Thom explains: "I just ranted that verse the day after I saw The Doors film. That film really wound me up, really upset me. It was like [Morrison] was some sort of Arthurian legend or something."

So yes, it IS ironic. And more critical than it sounds

this songs pretty cool, pablo honey is obviously a sophomore album but has some awesome hits. When it comes to this song, I love the non-chorus part, but when it comes to the chorus, it seems to ruin the song. Oh well, my 2 cents.

pretty good song..but it seems like they didn't put alot of work into it..i mean it's just verse-chorus-verse-chorus..Radiohead rules, they can do better.
Oh yeah, and I think it should be faster..it seems like it 'drags'.
