Lyrics for Mulligan Goes To War as interpreted by krushzed

Mulligan Goes To War Lyrics
He graduated with a degree in Poli-Sci
Premeditated what he would do until he died
And then he faded into a never-rising sky
Surfaced in the airforce, then learned how to fly

Mulligan goes to war
Mulligan goes to war
The days are gone
when he could tell you what he's fighting for
Mulligan goes to war

Flew helicopters with a patriotic grin
Built up brick walls, rarely letting people in
Had his pitfalls and he lived a life of sin
That life is over now, the new one must begin

Mulligan goes to war
Mulligan goes to war
The days are gone
when he could tell you what he's fighting for
Mulligan goes to war

We all gotta go sometimes

Made his living selling real estate
Met his first wife, she came much too late
To save the low man, he was slowly growing mad
He lost his business, the economy went bad

Mulligan goes to war
Mulligan goes to war
The days are gone
when he could tell you what he's fighting for
Mulligan goes to war

I only have a question about one of the lines in this song. When it goes "To save the low man" when i first heard this i thought that low man meant Loman like Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman. Willy eventually drove himslef crazy. That is just what i thought, if anybody knows?

I think the song kinda shows how the war and what happens to people there. it can change someone so much. it can even drive them crazy. i like the lines "The days are gone
when he could tell you what he's fighting for" and the way that you hear all the guys yelling "Mulligan" when it's sang is a really cool effect.

I attend the high school where Mr. Mulligan teaches, and a friend and I asked him if this song pertains to his life. The song is about his life, and he did teach the guys in the band at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point. Now you all know that this isn't just a rumor, the song is indeed about Mr. Mulligan. If you'd like to see for yourself, go to our school's website: http://www.sctritons.com/ and click on teacher schedules. If you scroll down for awhile, you can see his picture. Hope this helps with determining the meaning of the song!

this is one of SoCo's best upbeat songs, its catchy and a great tune for anyone
the lyrics are not about the actual literal war, but in fact everyone's own personal battles and "we all have to go sometime" is sad, yet its kinda reassuring that we know what's going to happen, if that made any sense :)

The first time I heard this I thought he said
"To save the MULL man" which makes a lot more sense. Too bad that's not correct.

ok, so i didn't know the song was about a teacher...but my thoughts about it are as follows: Mulligan was obviously a really dedicated guy - he knew exactly what he agreed and disagreed with, politically speaking, but then he went a bit off the rails...he lost what his ideals, and no longer knew what he was "fighting for"...his life lost the meaning it once had...quite sad, really....

Sure there was a teacher named Mulligan that taught the guys, but I think you're all missing the significance of the name "Mulligan". A mulligan in golf (or Snood) is when you take a bad shot and you get to do it over again. In Mulligan's life, he made a few twists and turns but kept getting second chances, or mulligans. Get it?

Sure there was a teacher named Mulligan, but I think we're still missing the point. The name "Mulligan" is significant to the story. A mulligan in golf (or Snood) is when you had a bad shot and you get to do it over. Mr. Mulligan here took a bunch of twists and turns in his life, but got a bunch of second chances, or mulligans, along the way. Anybody follow me here?

Yeah, I don't go to that school or anything, but the song is about Andrew's History (I think) teacher, Mr. Mulligan. All I know is he was apparently in the army reserves or whatever, and when the ghey war started one of the students in the class said, "Dude, what if Mulligan goes to war?" Andrew thought that had a nice ring to it and set to work on the song. I didn't know it actually was the teacher's life story. That's pretty cool, though it might be somewhat embarassing for Mr. Mulligan. But, hey, at least he's not Jordan.

lol, it does have a nice ring to it actually. I like the song though, I just downloaded it and I can't stop playing it. It's catchy. I bet the story of the song was twisted around a bit to make it more interesting though, but then again, the world may never know.
