God I love this song so much... I dont know why it says that it isn't found on any albums, though. I know for a fact its on Songs of Faith and Devotion.

I would imagine it could be about Martins' alcohol problem, as it's Martin that writes the lyrics not Dave.
Either way, it's a cleverly constructive song with lots of various meanings, and loads of Master/Slave/Belonging/Neediness/Wanting as typical of DM lyrics - although no mention of Knees in this one!

SOFAD is their best album by far, and then Charlie left and they went off the rails into boring electronic music. Meanwhile he releases two Recoil albums featuring some of the best DARK Electro Rock music ever showcasing what they'd have probably ended up sounding like if they'd have continued as a single unit.

Charlies drumming on this is amazing, really driving and sort of rattley with loads of percussiveness to it.

I'd love to see all four of them back together and releasing an album that holds upto their previous glories? Maybe Dave and Fletch can convince Alan and Martin to work together again?

I knew this would be my favorite DM song the first time I heard it.... It means alot to me because the only time I spend much time with my boyfriend is in his room.... it's actually the only place I've ever felt comfortable in....

SOFAD is by far the best album they've ever released. In your room - the lyrics are simply great. "I need you so much, will this relationship between us last forever?" -great!!!!

hey shut up about the "boring electronic music"....maybe exciter was not their best, but PTA is certainly a kickass album. charlie better hurry up with some new Recoil material.

as for the song....for some reason, I prefer the single version over the album. it's really amazing live as well!

Wow, this song is breathtaking. The lyrics are so sexy, and Dave's vocals are amazing. To me, its about putting yourself totally in someone's hands. He's leaving everything up to her. He'll do whatever she wants. He's that taken with her, that in love with her.

Really, really heavily laced with the BDSM theme, which makes it even sexier.

Plus, the music itself is insanely sexy (the album version...the single version was awesome too though). Just listen to it. It starts off very quietly, then builds and builds up to this grand, nearly chaotic finish...like a climax. The song is really quite orgasmic, lol.

You guys are right this song is about master and servant.

He is a slave to Christ, slave in a good way, that word is so misconstrued. This song is from the album Songs of Faith and Devotion, it is clear to me that he is talking about how God is always there how he is always watching and how Martin is talking about how he lives through Christ because he was forgiven.

Christ = Our Master

And if you chose to accept him you are his servant.

I pray that all of you one day find the love and forgiveness which is Christ, because the opposite only leads to a Lake of Fire.

Well I really don't think this song is about sitting in your girlfriend's or b's room at all..Personally for me this song is about addiction, to be reliant on something or smb. Like someone mentioned it could be bout Martin's drinking problems or Dave's heroin..Or it could be dependence on a person. I like the line 'In your Room" I think it's so metaphorical and all song is so.

This verse I think shows how dark place person is in and how he can't do anything about leting it go cause he is dependent. I don't know if anyone noticed but Dave's voice changes while singing this verse it's more aggressive and music too.
I like how this song starts very quite and slow and then goes into fast and aggressive one.

I don't know where people are getting drugs out of this song. I see it as flat out BDSM. Looks like the torture session was done by candlelight with some sensory deprivation added in. Looks like he was well trained to know that his skin did not belong to him, it belonged to the mistress. His breathing and body didn't belong to him, but belonged to the mistress. And he must have been tied down for a pretty long time.

It doesn't matter what the song means! It's ANTHEMIC, the way it builds to up to the 3rd verse is genius. Who would have thought that after the "poppy electro" beginnings and losing Vince Clark that The Mode would still be here and still be as prolific? Dave has the best voice in music bar none.

To Martin Gore love, desire and religion are just three different incarnations of one underlying human need, a craving to overcome the profound loneliness of every human being.

In this way many of his songs can be interpreted on different layers: love, sex, religion - anything that makes you feel being part of something.

But consequently Martin goes one step further into total surrender and oblivious self-abandonment. It's the ultimate state of peace of mind that corresponds with the deathwish that's resonates in many of his songs.

In Your Room perfectly fits into this principal theme, but does so in the most sensual way of all Mode songs.

BTW: The live version on the SOFAD live album is the only good reason to buy this one at all. Listening to it at 3 o'clock in the morning gives me shivers down my spine and makes my skin crawl.

Though not making use of any explicit material, this song simply has to be one of the sexiest of all times. The way in which he's experiencing this craving, this addiction to whoever is there in his/her room and describing it...well, its pretty damn amazing. He's completely at the mercy of this other person and wonders if he'll "always be here" or is just one of so may others..Actually I can even understand the interpretations above to this song's S&M meaning..the text is full or clues leading to it as well as a possible drug interpretation to which I'm also keeping an open mind about. One way or the other's a fair interpretation in its on right I guess and such subtlety and ambiguous leads indeed make this song a masterpiece. Love it.

I adore this song - both versions! the album version is absolutely amazing; it creates such a powerful atmosphere...while the single version is a more heavier sound.

I think its about a person who lives entirely in his/her head (In your room & Only you exist here), a world where this person is a sort of God, controlling everything.
