Lyrics for Exhausted as interpreted by black_cow_of_death

Exhausted Lyrics
I'm not around that much
Running exhausted and lost
If it could be undone
Will it have costed?
It's taught and lost

Blowing away we stray, wilted
insuited, at fault
What if the day had stayed in bed
These baubles we've brought
At fault

After the bliss has long ended
This caution this fault
Give me a breeze that's long winded
Accosted adult arrested

This song is really sad. I don't know what it's about but you can tell it's sad by the way Dave sings

Love this song, all the distortion and different goings on almost makes you feel physically exhausted. I can't understand the lyrics, and in my opinion dave's voice is without emotion in it, all the emotion is wrapped up in the music and distortion

mxmattd, I think the voice he has in the song expresses sadness, which is an emotion.

This is one of the most beautifully written Foo songs. I believe that its about Dave feeling tired of going all over the world, never being home and just kind of thinking "what if I could leave all this behind".

This song always gives me chills... it's an awesome way to end the album. The lyrics seem sad, but in a thoughful, reflective way (again, a great final track on the album). It's kind of like, yea, life's tough, but what would it be like if we hadn't tried to live at all? That's the feeling I get, both from the lyrics and the sound of the guitar riff. It's so calming and... ahhh... I love this song.

Big fan of this song. I really like how the chorus of it is basically that big guitar riff kicking in.

There is a strong sense of loss in the song.

This is my favorite song, by any band. When I bought my electric guitar all i could think about was being able to play this song. If it's the only song I ever learn to play, it'll be worth the $$$.

Did you guys know that Kurt Cobain really loved this song? It was on the the demos Dave worked on during NIRVANA's down time. He played it for Kurt and he really liked it alot, he just wanted to write his own lyrics for it and make it a NIRVANA song. For some reason though, this never happened.

Also, Kurt really liked Alone an Easy Target, he liked the chorus alot. He wanted to make this a NIRVANA song as well, but this too, never happened.

I had no idea what the song meant, but after looking up "accosted" and one of its meanings being "to solicit for sex," it makes more sense.

The first verse talks about why he feels the need and then if it could be undone will it still cost money? Like... will asking for sex and the act not even happening still cost me because the act is still almost committed, which is bad enough.

Then the second verse talks about him getting away from the girl he cheated with, never seeing each other again.

The third is about how he feels... after the sex (bliss) is over, he's left with that terrible feeling of guilt. He wants something to get him away from this scene, but the idea of him being arrested tells him that he's going to have to live with it forever.

I think this song is about being a rock star. He's exhausted by it "I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost," but he can't change things now. Its destroying him slowly "blowing away we stray, wilted". He looks at himself as a sort of jester for the fans "these baubles we've brought."

There is no evidence that "Kurt didn't like them". If there is, prove it. The only thing I've seen in print or in an interview, is that Kurt loved this song, and Alone and easy target, but he was scared to ask Dave if he could play them with his own words.

As for the meaning, I think it's about how they all felt at the time. Exhausted and wilted and worn out by the constant life, touring etc. They all needed a break but that isn't necessarily possible.

"These baubles we've brought - At fault" I think might refer to the fact that they all made a lot of money which bought them a lot of stuff, but it didn't help, and was even maybe something that harmed them in various ways.

p.s. "thedope" that cracked me up :) This song makes me feel like shit too. It's an amazing song, but it brings me down so I have to avoid it.

i think daves voice in this song suits the mood
his voice in the song sounds like someone who has given up, who cant be bothered, he has gone beyond sad to just nothing.
its like he feels nothing
his voice does have emotion, its the emotion of no emtion at all
if that makes sense?
