Get home from work and you're still standing in your dressing gown
Well what am I to do?
I know all the things around your head and what they do to you.
What are we coming to?
What are we gonna do?
Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home.
The troubled words of a troubled mind I try to understand
What is eating you.
I try to stay awake but its 58hrs since that I last slept with you.
What are we coming to?
I just don't know anymore.
I get on the train and I just stand about now that I don't think of you.
I keep falling over I keep passing out
When I see a face like you.
What am I coming to?
I'm gonna melt down.
I'm gonna melt down.

he's blaming it on the stars or everything going on in the world or his modern lifestyle rather than taking responsibility
I keep falling over, I keep ?crashing out ? Not sure but def not passing out on the album.
The girl has a mental illness probably depression. He loves her a lot. But is exhausted. And lost.
I agree I will listen to the whole song over and over and over again for this;
I get on the train and just stand about now that I don't think of you.
I keep falling over I keep passing out when I see a face like you.
Who hasn't felt this. Takes me back to a few train trips I had a few years back. The train is always the place it falls apart. When you're elsewhere you are busy but there's just something about the train..
Sure Black Star could be a reference to a drug, but that does not mean the rest of the song isn't about his depressed girlfriend... (who may or may not be using LSD and blaming her problems on that..
so forgive me if somebody else has already had this idea.
I understand the failing relationship interpretation and it probably
fits better. However, for me personally i really relate to it as the
narrator talking solely about his/her self.
The first verse is the narrator speaking to their own conscience or
their own mental state. Some people who suffer from
depression can 'mask' symptoms; go to work function, smile, put on a
'brave face'. But to the sufferer or narrator here, it's as if they haven't left
the house. They're still stuck at 7am making the breakfast.
"blame it on the black star" - the depression
"blame it on the falling sky" - this sounds melodramatic in a way to me,
they're saying blame it on everything that's wrong and unjust in the world
but don't blame me.
"blame it on the satellite" - this almost sounds sarcastic, "that beams me
home", it's as if the narrator is challenging the stigma attached to mental
health problems with that; blame it on me, I'm mad remember?
The next verse seems the narrator is struggling with his thoughts, why
do they feel like this? "it's 58 hours since I last slept with you"; the
last time he was at peace somewhat; lack of sleep another classic
symptom of depression.
Finally the last verse seems the narrator has succumb to he illness. The
person they don't think of anymore being their former self. The "face like you"
are all the people the narrator sees that remind them of how they used to be.
They'll never be that person again and they can't deal with it.
"I'm gonna melt down...this is killing me."
