Lyrics for We're Only Gonna Die as interpreted by punk_in_drublic99

We're Only Gonna Die Lyrics
early man walked away as modern man took control.
their minds weren't all the same, to conquer was his big goal,
so he built his great empire and slaughtered his own kind,
then he died a confused man, killed himself with his own mind.
go!

we're only gonna die from our own arrogance.

This short message, I think, describes the cycle of human evolution as of now. The dominant man always will win over the lesser man, even though both the groups have the same goal. Then it shows how the greater, modern, man destroy's himself and his own kind because he has the one goal of conquest.

i'd like to add something to gepetto's vision: i think it's no coincidence that the same part is repeated over and over, having in mind the concept of "no control".

if you listen (experience) sublime's version (the original one, not the MCA's) you'll get my point...

ilgattopunx: Sublime's version doesn't matter because, A. this isn't for Sublime's version, and B. they didn't write the song.

This song reminds me of the message from the book Ishmael. I doubt that was Greg's intention when he wrote the lyrics but the themes of both the book and the song overlap.

old school... I was thinking hitler too. Sublime's version does justice.
